Someone yesterday said Luis Enrique didn't change his tactics. His guys hit the post multiple times in both matches. His tactics put them in position and they didn't convert.

Yeah I saw folks on X blaming tactics too… you get that many shots and big chances, it's not the tactics that are the problem. In fact, you could probably argue the opposite… first leg was actually pretty even between the two teams in terms of shots, clear cut chances, and xG. This match was total PSG dominance… so whether that was tactics or motivation or both, something clearly changed.

Despite his bias, 7nine is right that this felt like City-Madrid. Did both winning teams choose to play defensively and do it really well at times? Yes… but both also gave up lots of chances and got lucky. But at least with Madrid, you could praise the individual brilliance of Lunin… with Dortmund, you can praise the goalposts.

That said… hats off to them because there's also something to be said about making your own luck… PSG looked unsettled… Reus in particular was putting in some crafty challenges that were really frustrating PSG down the stretch when they either weren't called for fouls. That pressure/frustration can certainly affect shooting.

Yea, I'm not taking anything away from Dortmund. Just calling out some of the very smooth brain talking points that get thrown out there when a big team loses.
