Every game Gregg has put in the extra attacker, instead of MMA, we look a lot more dynamic in the attack. Especially when we have Gio in the role we had Tillman in.

Its a tough call for sure, and would likely depend on the team we are playing and availability of players.
Assumign everyone is healthy, it would almost surely have to be based on form. Musah's ability to play the 6 he has demonstrated this year with the national team makes it trickier to.
Could go Adams, Musah, Gio, with Adams as a true 6 or even with Musah even with him and Gio more freedom to roam.
Similar with Adams Mckennie gio, though I think Wes still isnt as good a defender yet. He has a tendency to fall asleep at the wheel a few times every game and isnt quite as tidy on the ball in tight spaces as Musah.

These are all good problems to me, and hopefully all our players keep progressing at the club level and make it hard on Gregg to decide..which in theory gives him a lot of tactical flexbility if he can take advantage of it.

oh yeah I enjoyed not watching a bunch of concacafing going on. But those guys better than st kitts or Grenada or Martinique? Sure. Better than the typical hex? I don't think so. I watched Oman players' technical skill and tactical awareness- it was really bad. Aaronson's fk goal shouldn't happen. The Oman own goal shouldn't happen. And those guys kept giving the ball away carelessly over and over again. Looking forward to the friendlies in the next window. Those ones will be a lot more interesting. We're actually ranked higher than Germany right now.

Oman is a decent team. I think I t's good for our team to have experience playing teams from different regions in friendlies. Helps prepare for the WC.

-not that FIFA rankings are end-all, be-all, I just thought Oman looked horrible last night and to my eye, they are a worse squad technically and tactically and maybe athletically than el salvador or honduras.

On the official team store, it's only available in women's sizing, but they also feature a dude wearing one on the main page.

Just to illustrate the weirdness of matchups, Uzbekistan fielded their second-choice 11 last night and tied Mexico here in Atlanta. Really, if you're playing teams in the top 100 FIFA rankings, it's a worthwhile match, IMO.

alright, well, i never wanted to make a case that the match wasn't worthwhile. i just made a comment last night during the match that Oman looked really poor and was trying to defend all the disagreements to that comment. I thought Oman was making some blundering errors, bad decisions and bad touches that you'd expect U15 teams to not make.

USSF tried to get CONMEBOL teams, Argentina and Brazil for this fall but never materialized. It could be that CONMEBOL decided to start WC qualifications which trumps any friendlies.

This development was back in February so not sure what really happened.

No worries, just having a conversation. Interestingly, I thought the US played pretty poorly on the whole against UZB - and their problems almost exactly mirrored how you described Oman.

with WC in north america in 2026, the 2024 copa america is going to be here in USA next summer so all those conmebol teams will be here and i have to imagine a lot of euro teams will want to come here for friendlies when they can over the next couple of years (Germany next month).

I agree. A person with more melanin could maybe pull it off but it looks hideous regardless of gender.

Germany is available only because they don't have to participate in the Euro qualifiers as they're hosting.

With the European Nations League and Euro's it will be almost impossible to schedule friendlies with the top Euro teams.

even next year or 2025? I thought we'd be getting a lot of european visitors leading up to 2026.

Their Nations League group winners gain WC qualification, so they're going to be vested in that competition.

Best we can hope for is some good friendlies the month prior to the WC.

Top Euro teams are out for the next two falls for friendlies as Fall '24 is UEFA Nations League group play and Fall '25 is UEFA WC Qualification.

May be able to schedule in Spring of '25 but that's pretty much the only opportunity.

They created it to make for better, more strategic and I.portant friendlies in non wc/euro qualifying windows. They can sell the rights to a England vs Netherlands nations league game for more than a random friendly between Netherlands and Guatemala. And because uefa teams are largely playing only other uefa teams there's a feedback loop which keeps their fifa rankings inflated.
