Game has totally changed.
McDonald carrying this team offensively. We need others to be able to possess and attack. Our strategy of getting to the end line and making crosses has generated several good attempts.
Defense had several errors in the second ex game that didn't cost us. We have had one major one so far this game and Caldwell saved us. The goal was a mistake and a fluke shot.
Game is mostly boring as we sit back and let fsu possess in their defensive 3rd. Wilkinson doesn't have the endurance to chase. I think we may see Miley pressuring some in the 2nd half especially if we fall behind.
Late goal gives us some momentum going into the second half.

When Florida St is gassed they go to the ground and the ref gives them a break for "injury".

Florida St spent about 50% of the final 4 minutes on the ground feigning injury with a running clock after they scored.
Tough loss. Need to learn from a team like Florida St in how to close tight games.

FL state full of transfers and new players and still can't even get a draw against them on your home field in 100 degree heat. This program is in perpetual stagnation. Very disappointing.

I can get mad with the best of them, but Florida St is probably the best team we will play this year. Tonight was a great opportunity for us but your conclusion seems far too negative.
It's not totally out of proportion considering they lost quite a bit of production and heavily relied on freshmen tonight. While it might be an over reaction, we do know this story all too well. Hope this years story is written differently, but tonight does have to raise questions around being stagnant

Wild responses in this thread, and even worse in the Premium thread….this is the most encouraged I've been after the first game in several years. Heat was such a huge factor tonight, and that will easily be the most talented team we play all year.

Tonight was encouraging. FSU is probably the best team we play all year.
It also becomes very easy to tell who consistently watches college soccer vs those that don't.

Coach G had a great plan for the game. Give him credit. And executed well. First FSU goal was a bit of a fluke off a deflection that our GK couldn't cover. Our goal was a thing of beauty. Last FSU goal a defensive breakdown. Yes we were tired. But, not sure that is a good excuse. Still a fine performance vs an excellent team. It is way too early to be down on this team unless you are just looking for an excuse. There was a lot of action and a number of close calls despite our defensive strategy. We hit the post on a Mia Pante shot. FSU hit the crossbar.
I guess we can't be frustrated that after tying it up with an amazing goal they couldn't hold on to draw on their home field. After the last 7-8 years since making the college cup this program just can't get back over the hump? Call it stagnant or average or whatever it's frustrating like many A&M teams. But if y'all say so let's be positive we only lost 2-1.
