Apart from Konate<>Gomez, I almost got the starting lineup spot on! But on to the next one! Let's put 7 past United again. Although, since everyone is predicting that, it'll likely be a 2-1, 1-0 affair. Not that I really care by how many we win by, just get the three points.

The kids did not play well in this one. Just about every single youth player looked lost out there today.

Chambers was a disaster. Bradley was slightly better, but still fairly useless. Gordon was largely invisible.

Doak probably got his last minutes of the year in my opinion. Pretty much gave it away every time he touched the ball. He needs to add a lot more to his game before he can be considered a viable option.

We did achieve the best possible outcome from this game though: 0 injuries.

There was just no service to the attacking players yesterday. Gakpo may have touched the ball less than 10 times. The fullbacks left much to be desired. But I think I read somewhere that our average age last night was 22. We played lots of teenagers and 20 year olds. Hopefully this gives them some valuable experience and maybe some confidence to play with the big boys in the First Team. I think Elliott was the lone bright spot playing-wise. But like you said, main goal was to get through the game without injuries. I was really happy to see Salah, TAA, and VvD not even make the trip. Bring on United!

Partial empty actually. It's the new stand and first game with the upper deck opened. January before full capacity.

What a frustrating game. Absolutely "dominated" but typical sloppy finishing and typical struggle of breaking down a defense. But so many missed chances.

Ugh. Need to take all three points from these mid-table teams.

Very disappointing game. 2 points lost.

34 shots with only 8 on target. Mane and Firmino would have taken better advantage of those chances. Nunez is just so hot/cold and Diaz has not been the same direct winger since his injury.

I thought TAA was gonna win it in the end but his shot went inches wide. And Konate looked like Cruyff in the United box. He hits that shot anywhere but straight at Onana, we escape with a 1-0 win.

Apart from Salah, this team lacks the direct goal threat. We rely a lot on Salah to create his own shot. Gakpo is a great retainer of the ball but it seemed like he had it in his head to shoot every time he had the ball regardless of his positioning or where his teammates were. Endo looked kind of lost. Too many missed passes for someone who is supposed to anchor the midfield. This team is screaming for a decent CDM. We can win the league if we address this and add a CB for depth. I fear FSG will just sit tight in January and proclaim Thiago coming back from his umpteenth injury as a "new signing."

Just watched the highlights for the Club World Cup (Man City v Fluminense). Man City won easily, 4-0. Andre, who was rumored to join Liverpool this summer, took his customary role as CDM and got absolutely worked for every single goal. He basically just stood around in the middle of the box and marked absolutely nobody...in some cases he kept runners onside.

I wasn't that crazy about him this summer....I'm definitely out on him now. Glad we passed on him.

Headed to watch the game with a Gunner family in the neighborhood. May good sportsmanship abound.
