I'll admit that I've been mostly in Dynamo hibernation for a couple of seasons now. (Moving out east definitely contributed to that too.) Glad for the hometown fans to have something exciting to celebrate and hopefully things continue to improve.

I was wondering the same thing watching the Dynamo dominate the first half of the match.

Thanks to LAFC beating Minnesota last night, and despite that last minute goal we gave up because we decided to stop playing any type of offense for an entire half in our own match last night, we have clinched a playoff spot.

What a turnaround this season for the Dynamo!

Got tickets for Sunday. Having to read up on this playoff format. Seems weird. To go from best of 3 series straight to single elimination.

I have to admit, I didn't realize just how ridiculous this format is when I posted this...which personally is very weird considering I use to be a massive MLS fan. But after reading the rules, I'm not sure I can think of a more ridiculous concept.

There's literally no advantage to winning by multiple goals. Dynamo could have scored 10 last night and it would have been no different than scoring 2. And because every game goes straight to PKs if it's tied after 90 minutes, a team could very easily win one game but "lose" the other 2 games on PKs and be eliminated...which means that a team could go undefeated in the 3 game series but fail to advance at the expense of the winless team (PK losses are officially registered as draws by FIFA in spite of what MLS is trying to pull here with this win/loss concept).

When most of the world is trying to limit games being decided by penalties, MLS is creating a format that actually encourages it. I guess it also encourages close games which in theory creates drama, but it definitely doesn't encourage attacking soccer. It almost discourages it actually.

It is a comically bad set up. I can't think of anything more MLS.
