For the sake of the tournament, I'd like to see Argentina advance to have Messi get his shot at a title. And KSA for the absolute mayhem that they bring. Their fans are almost as nuts as MBS.

for those wondering, since I just googled it, here are the scenarios:

Poland
  • Win vs. ARG: A win would see POL claim first place in Group C.
  • Draw vs. ARG: POL advance. POL can win the group with a draw if KSA fails to win vs. MEX. If KSA win, POL drop to 2nd.
  • Lose vs. ARG: POL can qualify if MEX win or KSA-MEX draw based on tiebreakers with KSA or MEX. POL are eliminated with a KSA win.

Argentina
  • Win vs. POL: ARG qualify. Finish 1st if KSA lose or draw. Tiebreakers are needed if KSA win.
  • Draw vs. POL: ARG eliminated with KSA win. ARG qualify with KSA-MEX draw. If MEX win, then tiebreakers will determine the qualifier.
  • Lose vs. POL: ARG eliminated.
Saudi Arabia
  • Win vs. MEX: KSA qualify to Round of 16. If tied on points for 1st place with ARG, tiebreakers will be needed.
  • Draw vs. MEX: KSA advance if POL beats ARG. KSA are eliminated if ARG-POL draw (goal difference). If POL lose, tiebreakers will be needed.
  • Lose vs. MEX: KSA eliminated.

Mexico
  • Win vs. KSA: MEX have to win to qualify and then wait on the other match result:
    -- An ARG-POL draw or ARG win means tiebreakers come into play with ARG (if ARG-POL draw) or POL (if ARG win). However, a MEX win by four goals in this case would guarantee a +2 goal difference, allowing MEX to win the tiebreakers against both ARG (+1) and POL (+1 at best) in either case.
    -- If POL win, then MEX qualify automatically with win of their own
  • Draw or Lose vs. KSA: MEX eliminated.

Alvarez lucky he didn't get a 2nd yellow for putting his hands on the ref there. Ref looked pissed when he turned around. I know it was just a tap on the shoulder, but after just getting a yellow for a pretty aggressive tackle, that was not super smart.
