Great match played and De Ligt is absolutely man of the match for that goal line clearance in the 1st! Not gonna lie, with the way that PSG played in the second half of the first leg I felt they were going to counter us to death this match. Great game plan by Nagelsman and moving on to the final 8. Undefeated so far in Champion's League play so far with probably the toughest draw yet being in a group with Inter & Barca and drawing PSG in the first round of knockouts.

As long as he stays healthy, he's gonna get a damn good shot at it. He's 22 and sitting on 174 goals. This has really been his best year health wise. He's missed several months over his few seasons with Dortmund. He's a big body and thundering up and down the field like he can creates some wear and tear. Best thing is professional training and focus on recovery has never been better and will only continue to improve for athletes.

Will be interesting to see if/how the increased number of games compared to say, 20 years ago will affect him. Playing for an elite club team is going to make 50+ games a season the norm. With the advent of the Nations League, he'll get a lot more national team time with Norway than he otherwise might have. The expansion of the Euros and World Cup combined with some improved talent coming out of Norway means he'll likely get to some of the elite tournaments he likely wouldn't have two decades ago. He could literally play what...60? 70 football games in a season?

Point is that his career is likely to overlap significantly with the advent of the insane increase in games players are being asked to play. It will be interesting to see how all of those games have affected him by the time he's 28 or so...when historically you would be expecting him to hit his prime. There are already historical examples of players in the past who started getting heavy minutes as teens which perhaps kept them from hitting the heights some expected when they hit their prime.
