It's not going to happen, but a strong message needs to be sent to Mexico's fans. It's beyond a disgrace. If this was a European national team you wouldn't hear the end of the whining about it in the media for months.

CP with the sorta game LD used to have all the time taken out by physicality and lots of fouls, good corners but mostly ineffectual. Then steps and takes the PK with confidence.

Still a lot to improve on, but what a freaking exciting game.

Looking forward to some players stepping up at the Gold Cup, becuase I think it's clear there are spots available on the A-squad

He had already tossed Martino. If he comes out of that VAR area and just points for a goal kick he gets mobbed and grabbed. At that point he either starts tossing people or it gets worse. Would he get assaulted? No. Would he lose total control of the match? Yes. And he was close to that anyway.

The big thing is, WCQ is going to be different this cycle and a condensed schedule. We haven't really had any games other than friendlies, and of those friendlies not many with our A-team.

So this was a chance to get some games that aren't friendlies, and in short succession, as a way to prepare for qualifying.
