Dang.. I was rooting for Brentford to win and clinch an automatic promotion spot, but I have to give it to Barnsley - they scored in the '91st to give them a win which saved them from relegation.

Wow. Nothing like being on the wrong end of two 4-1 matches. What a gut punch to Nottingham.

Holy crap. They gave up the last goal at 90+6" on an OG. And Swansea scored their last at 90+1"

Agree. Sad day for Delia and Sir Elton.

Might be time for Sir Elton to get involved in ownership again. Who fires their manager in the middle of a very winnable relegation fight?

Christ. Looking at the result now. I think I still have ESPN plus and need to go back and watch

Forest had the next tie breaker (h2h) until the two injury time goals.

As a relegation watcher it doesn't get any better than this final weekend. Three teams looking to claim the final spot in next year's EPL! Should be an absolute wonderful Sunday morning (and this doesn't even include the battle at the top for the final Champions League spots). Even better is all EPL matches will be aired simultaneously on the NBC networks.

Current Relegation Standings:
Club Games Played Points Goal Diff.
17. Aston Villa 37 34 -26
18. Watford 37 34 -27
19. Bournemouth 37 31 -27
20. Norwich 35 21

Villa currently have the last safe spot, but just on goal difference. Bournemouth need a win and for Watford and Villa to lose to claim the last position. Because goal difference is so close, it really will be a great battle, no one has to win by 10 goals or avoid a 9 goal loss, it is truly a win or die type situation.

Sunday's Games:

Arsenal v. Watford (Emirates Stadium, 10am, Golf Channel). Arsenal will be looking for a response after losing to Aston Villa. Watford are currently 18th, below Aston Villa on goal difference, and will need to better Villa's result by two or more goals should they both win. A draw would keep them up if Villa cannot gain a point. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League outings at Emirates Stadium (W6 D2), with the Gunners netting 18 goals and conceding just five in that run. The Gunners have won five of their six Premier League home fixtures against Watford (L1), keeping a clean sheet in each victory. Watford have conceded at least once in each of their last nine Premier League matches. No side is on a longer current run without a clean sheet in the competition. Watford will need to come out on the offensive, looking to do to Arsenal what Villa did in the mid-week game. The two clubs battled to a 2-2 draw back in September.

Everton v. Bournemouth (Goodison Park, 10am, CNBC). Everton ended a run of four matches without a win by beating Sheffield United 1-0 in midweek and will be looking to end their season with a home victory. Bournemouth will hope to complete a league double over the Toffees and hope results elsewhere go their way to escape the bottom three. Everton have won all four of their Premier League home contests against Bournemouth, netting at least twice each time (12 goals in total). Under Carlo Ancelotti, the Toffees are unbeaten in all nine of their Premier League matches at Goodison Park. Bournemouth need to win to have any hope of extending their five-year stay in the Premier League. The Cherries will need to claim a Premier League double against Everton for the first time after a 3-1 win at the Vitality Stadium earlier this season.

West Ham v. Aston Villa (London Stadium, 10am, NBCSN). Aston Villa face West Ham United knowing their Premier League safety will be confirmed if they match Watford's result at Arsenal, who they sit above in 17th on goal difference, providing they don't both lose and AFC Bournemouth win at Everton. The Hammers, who drew 1-1 at Manchester United in midweek, target a third win in four matches. West Ham are unbeaten in their last four home league matches against Aston Villa (W2 D2), with the Hammers keeping a clean sheet each time. The Hammers have won their final-day match in the last three seasons, while Villa have failed to win any of their last eight. Aston Villa have won two of their last three Premier League matches, as many as they had in their previous 15 in the competition. The two clubs drew 0-0 in September when they met at Villa Park.

All three teams are playing clubs who themselves have little to play for, and all three are on the road, so will be an interesting day to see what lineups the managers throw out, who is interested in playing and who is not.

Enjoy the Weekend!

I really am tempted to drag an extra tv or two into the living room. But there's really about 6 games I want to watch.

Liverpool v Newcastle

Chelsea/wolves
United/Leicester

Arsenal/wat ford
West ham/villa

5 I guess.

Add Spurs v CP and there are 6 of the 10 matches that have some form of qualification on the line.

That game just has no interest for me. Between Palce playing like crap and Spurs withering so much over the last 18 months. I suppose there's the Jose factor.

At half:

Villa 0-0 West Ham
Arsenal 3-1 Watford
Bournemouth 2-1 Everton

Watford's fall has been epic. Cherries have a chance, just need a goal from the Hammers

3-2 now, Watford showing life.

And Spurs sneak into the Europa League.

Maybe they can win it.

Swansea wont the first leg of their semi-final vs. Brentford 1-0. Currently in the 2nd leg Brentford are up 3-0.

The way Brentford has been playing as of late they definitely have a strong chance and I definitely agree. Was glad to see Leeds up but would also enjoy seeing Brentford as well..

Couple of interesting notes for low table teams.

It's being reported that Bournemouth is going to file suit against the company that makes the HawkEye goal line technology over the missed goal in the AVL game. If that goal had been given, AVL gets a tie rather than a win and Bournemouth would have stayed up.

The Saudi consortium looking to purchase Newcastle has withdrawn their bid due to "uncertainly in today's world". Fancy way of saying the oil market sucks.

I heard an interview yesterday about the Newcastle purchase. I don't think the EPL was real keen on the group, there was some questions about their money and how they had made it all. Apparently there is a US purchaser in the wings that the PL and Newcastle wanted more anyway.

Fulham will look to finish out Cardiff today, up 2-0 on aggregate and playing at Craven Cottage.

If Fulham can close it out we will be assured another West London club in next year's EPL. Brentford and Fulham are 6 miles from one another.

Brentford played their last game at Griffin Park yesterday, which had been the club's home since 1904. I am a die hard Fulham supporter, but I really think it would be cool for Brentford to be promoted the year of their new stadium opening.

oh no
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I like Fulham and want them back up, but I was also in London in March and saw Brentford's stadium- looked really nice. More London clubs in EPL!

I've been following the Newcastle takeover saga for some time now. The Saudi led consortium placed a bid back in January for the club and it went up to the PL for an owner and directors test. During that time human rights issues and piracy claims were presented to the PL against the Saudi PIF. The Saudi's banned BeIN sports from Saudi Arabia markets. Meaning that if Newcastle were sold to the PIF the PL would not make any money in TV rights and new Saudi Arabian fans couldn't watch the club play. Turned into a right big mess.

There was another bid placed by an American business man but that offer hasn't been accepted yet since the owner, Mike Ashley, was waiting on the PL owners test. We will see what happens
