That would have been a good discussion to hear.
Um, Earnie Stewart spent like a decade in the Eredivisie as a technical director. He's most likely not the issue.Entourageag07 said:RealTalk said:
MLS coach = MLS performance.
Agreed. At least Klinsmann gave us a jolt with some new ideas. We are sorely lacking that right now.
When we hired berhalter, it wasn't as well known that his brother worked for US soccer. Hiring Ernie Stewart and all these retreads is seriously damaging our national team right now.

I hate the talent discussion. It's not 1994 anymore.
We've proved we have talent in the past...and we play great in spurts. We've shown we're capable. We need a system that provides consistent play.

He hired berhalter so he definitely takes a lot of blame.
Just move the money over to the USWNT.YouBet said:
Shockingly, we've gotten worse at a sport as we've gotten more diverse with people who love said sport.
Completely illogical. Just shut it down. It's a waste of money.

We should have hired Tata.
And I said this in another thread - the rise of the MLS has seen the fall of the national team, and this will continue to happen.
Number one priority should be the national team, not building our domestic league.
There is an MLS agenda and conspiracy going on and these kinds of performances is what we will continue to see.
Feels like a guy who played and then spent a decade in European clubs qualifies as an outsider?Entourageag07 said:mrmill3218 said:fig96 said:Um, Earnie Stewart spent like a decade in the Eredivisie as a technical director. He's most likely not the issue.Entourageag07 said:RealTalk said:

For real. He's still part of the establishment. We need outsiders in a desperate way.

Proof of the MLS conspiracy agenda. Michael Bradley hasn't deserved to be a part of this team ever since the 2010 World Cup.
dest owned that guy all game until that point. Why is Pulisic coming over to lazily double there. His job when the player takes the bait to nutmeg Dest is to cut him off and win the ball. Not stand there and watch.Thunder18 said:
Dest got punked by that dude twice in a short span. Time to toughen up young man
The problem with your theory is that we have better and younger MLS players on the bench that were passed over by Zardes and Trapp. It's clearly a personal bias, and it's not a great sign for Berrhalter.mrmill3218 said:
Basically our main focus has been to grow and showcase our domestic league. This is why we pick players from MLS for the national team that frankly shouldn't be there. We want to showcase the guys we have in MLS so that people watch the national team and see these MLS players playing. We are prideful and we want to prove we can do it with "our guys" playing in MLS instead of just the best player available. It's why we play our euro based players out of position - so we can get MLS guys into the team.
It's also why we don't let our players leave MLS a lot of the time. MLS wants to showcase and say "hey look we've got national team stars!" We should be letting those players go and develop in Europe. Again, this is the MLS agenda. No other country sits around and day dreams about how to make their league better. No other country who doesn't have one of the best domestic leagues in the world wants to keep their national team players playing in it.
It's why we make hires like Gregg berhalter. He's from MLS and although he wasn't qualified for the job, it makes MLS look good and they know he will keep pushing their conspiracy agenda by picking bad MLS players so the vicious cycle continues.
Again, our priority should be building the national team at all costs. Our domestic league will never be one of the best, so just let it be what it is and have fun with it. People will still enjoy it, as they should.
Everything out of the back is just too slow and deliberate. THe ball has to move at a much higher pace if you want to do that. You have to have your whole team moving off the ball and reading the play together.mathguy86 said:
We are 66 minutes in and I have no idea what our strategy was in the match, other than we have tried and failed miserably at playing out of the back. This was a tactical disaster. It was a player selection waste of a match. CLOWN. SHOW.
