Agreed. At least Klinsmann gave us a jolt with some new ideas. We are sorely lacking that right now.

When we hired berhalter, it wasn't as well known that his brother worked for US soccer. Hiring Ernie Stewart and all these retreads is seriously damaging our national team right now.
Um, Earnie Stewart spent like a decade in the Eredivisie as a technical director. He's most likely not the issue.

Saying its the MLS's fault is such a simple take US soccer has many issues one on which is not the MLS.

I hate the talent discussion. It's not 1994 anymore.

We've proved we have talent in the past...and we play great in spurts. We've shown we're capable. We need a system that provides consistent play.

This is what frustrates me. I know the talent is there and we should not lose to any concacaf team.

Shockingly, we've gotten worse at a sport as we've gotten more diverse with people who love said sport.

Completely illogical. Just shut it down. It's a waste of money.

He hired berhalter so he definitely takes a lot of blame.

For real. He's still part of the establishment. We need outsiders in a desperate way.

We should have hired Tata.

And I said this in another thread - the rise of the MLS has seen the fall of the national team, and this will continue to happen.

Number one priority should be the national team, not building our domestic league.

There is an MLS agenda and conspiracy going on and these kinds of performances is what we will continue to see.

Feels like a guy who played and then spent a decade in European clubs qualifies as an outsider?

We probably won't ever know specifics, but we had a year long "search" for the guy we all knew it was going to be to start with.

Maybe it was his call, but our search never really felt like a search to me. Felt a lot more like the higher ups had already made the call.

Basically our main focus has been to grow and showcase our domestic league. This is why we pick players from MLS for the national team that frankly shouldn't be there. We want to showcase the guys we have in MLS so that people watch the national team and see these MLS players playing. We are prideful and we want to prove we can do it with "our guys" playing in MLS instead of just the best player available. It's why we play our euro based players out of position - so we can get MLS guys into the team.

It's also why we don't let our players leave MLS a lot of the time. MLS wants to showcase and say "hey look we've got national team stars!" We should be letting those players go and develop in Europe. Again, this is the MLS agenda. No other country sits around and day dreams about how to make their league better. No other country who doesn't have one of the best domestic leagues in the world wants to keep their national team players playing in it.

It's why we make hires like Gregg berhalter. He's from MLS and although he wasn't qualified for the job, it makes MLS look good and they know he will keep pushing their conspiracy agenda by picking bad MLS players so the vicious cycle continues.

Again, our priority should be building the national team at all costs. Our domestic league will never be one of the best, so just let it be what it is and have fun with it. People will still enjoy it, as they should.

Michael Bradley has been poor ever since he insisted on playing the number 6.

He was brilliant as a box to box guy in the 2010 World Cup. Has done nothing to merit an automatic lock to start for the past nine years.

Dest got punked by that dude twice in a short span. Time to toughen up young man
dest owned that guy all game until that point. Why is Pulisic coming over to lazily double there. His job when the player takes the bait to nutmeg Dest is to cut him off and win the ball. Not stand there and watch.

Meanwhile ****ing Trapp is just standing still in the box watching the play happen as players stream into the box behind him

We ****ing KNOW what Trapp and Zardes can do at thsi level, all they do is hinder the rest of the teams ability to perform. How the **** can you evaluate anyone when you have someone who isnt good enough or athletic enough to play in this game in the center of the park. You might as well not have a ****ing forward either.
Why bring all this young talent in and then NOT play it. Trapp is currently being outplayed by 2 other central midfielders in the MLS who were on teh bench, and are younger with more potential.

Personally, I dont think we got rocked, the score line says 3-0 but that didn't feel like a 3-0 game to me. We committed to trying to play out of the back, and its clear we still have kinks. Its a ****ing friendly, this is when you do it. You will NEVER get better if you just resort to the long ball after 20 minutes of trying to play the way you are planning.

The problem with your theory is that we have better and younger MLS players on the bench that were passed over by Zardes and Trapp. It's clearly a personal bias, and it's not a great sign for Berrhalter.

We are 66 minutes in and I have no idea what our strategy was in the match, other than we have tried and failed miserably at playing out of the back. This was a tactical disaster. It was a player selection waste of a match. CLOWN. SHOW.
Everything out of the back is just too slow and deliberate. THe ball has to move at a much higher pace if you want to do that. You have to have your whole team moving off the ball and reading the play together.

So many things are wrong with US Soccer, it is a combination of MLS and USSF.
Tata Martino or Marcelo Bielsa should have been the US coaches. They can provide a solid change in foundation and mentallity. Bring different methods of work, new playing systems, different forms of training, etc. They both have proven records doing that(at Chile, Paraguay, and Argentina)
But the main issue is the MLS. The constant expansion, no relagation, no alligned calendar with the other futbol leagues, no true youth academies, are what drives me crazy and I truly believe that unless these things change in MLS then there will be no hope for USMNT. It is very frustrating because this is not an issue of having athletes, we do have players with the physical abilities to rival everyone in the world.
