Oh, and I agree the Lopez to Asdis goal was an incredible international goal. What a flick by Asdis to score that one.

I thought we were losing the possession battle in the first half but that was affected by us taking shots from so far out when we could have moved it around more. On Ally's goal she went in further towards the goal than earlier and I think cut down the keepers response time. Her most noticeable quality is her speed but she has a pretty powerful shot also. When we had the 3 goal lead I thought Emily should come out to protect her but her goal was worth waiting for. She seemed to have the ball tonight a little more often. That was the most impressive half against a quality side that I have seen since we scored 5 on Arizona in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2014. Our ability to score goals is getting pretty impressive.

Just watched the highlights. On her goal, Jordan did a great job getting back onside after the ball was bouncing around the box.

What a great game. We played so well, it made us mostly forget about the 2 hour rain delay and almost 5 hours we spent at Ellis Field.
First half was entertaining back and forth play that was pretty even.
Second half, especially the first 25 minutes was dominated by us against a quality opponent. It left me wondering if SCU is a quality opponent or not. We have come out on fire to start 2nd halves 2 games in a row. Great passing and movement setting up opportunities. No big complaints from the game, but still a lot of little things that will take us to elite status. Still too many bad passes/ passes to no one.
Both Asdis and Tera bring a lot for freshman, but they are just a little off from a flow/chemistry standpoint. Asdis uses her body well to shield off defenders, but almost always takes the ball herself after receiving it, generally in a slow looping turn. Distributing the ball quickly, to someone making a run from the outside will allow the offense to move forward more quickly. Tera needs to know when to move forward in general and when to make diagonal runs toward the box. To start the second half tonight she made a couple nice runs that generated chances. More of that would be great from her and everyone else in general.
Lopez is playing great all over the field. Bates needs to make sure she keeps involved and we need to work to get her the ball in space. Watt continues to play at a high level. Piper and McCain are doing well in midfield. Defense has some sketchy moments but is solid overall. GK is playing at a high level.
We have some quality subs. Smith is very skilled and is a threatand Cienna is an all around great player. Both could start.

We have now seen this team play at a high level for 90 minutes. We have also seen them come out completely flat for 45 minutes. That is a little worrisome since we are going to have a bunch of decent teams to play that could be dangerous, but may not appear to be at our level. We need to be focused on the SEC title and putting us in position to host the first few rounds of the NCAA tournament.

After re-watching the game, the goal by Bates really was amazing as she went upper 90 to the near post on an individual run. And Jordan Hill had a really good second half, scoring but also heading away 2-3 dangerous chances for Santa Clara. My only concern with her is the close marking on the outside and some bad turnovers that creates scoring chances for the opponent.

Even without a finely trained soccer eye, this game was a visual treat. The win was equally impressive as a marquee accomplishment and an inspiration for the games to come. It was a great night for Aggie soccer. Heartiest congratulations to the players and coaches!

Can anyone explain with a 4 goal lead late why G didn't empty the bench? I know there were at least a couple of reserves available, unless they were all dinged up. We were in a defensive shell at the end and what we needed most was fresh legs.

G did put Claudette in with 3 minutes left which I was glad to see. The other players available were Abby, who played some on Friday, Callyn, Sophie and Karlina. I don't think G will take Cossette out while we have a shutout going. I've noticed over the years that we don't sub players on the back line very much and I assume that is because communication is so important there.

Crap, we only miss a couple of games a year and this was one of them. Anyone know if ESPN+ replays these somehow? I'll login and try to find out.

Asdis is SEC Freshman of the Week: SEC Freshman of the Week - Texas A&M forward sds Halldrsdttir, a freshman from Reykjavik, Iceland, logged a goal and an assist as the Maroon & White went 2-0 on the weekend, including a 4-0 blanking of No. 9 Santa Clara. Against Oklahoma, Halldrsdttir put her head on a corner kick offering. The Sooners' keeper made a self-preservation save, but Grace Piper put the carom home for the equalizer. The freshman scored her first career Aggie goal midway through the second half to give the Maroon & White a 2-0 lead against the No. 9 Broncos.

Grace was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week: M Grace Piper, Texas A&M A defensive central midfielder, Piper had a hand in all three goals as Texas A&M erased a 1-0 deficit to win 3-1 on Friday against Oklahoma. She scored the tying and go-ahead goal from set pieces and assisted on a third with a perfect cross into the box. In Sunday's 4-0 win against Santa Clara, Piper started and played 44 minutes.
