3 minutes was about right. You extend for excessive goal celebrations, extended injuries or substitutions. They had the VAR stoppage but that's about it.

I hate replay in all sports. It ruins the game. I dont care if a bad call is made correct. Its part of the game. Good and bad calls have been apart of all sports since their inception. They are a part of the story and a part of the game. I guess replay is a perfect example of the current society's feelings on "fairness" and inability to handle adversity.

I especially hate the way replay is used in modern sports. If you going to use it, use it for all or use it for nothing. This game is a perfect example. The replay could have negated an illegitimate goal by reversing a bad call and then have correctly called the handball. Why is it not like this?

If the goal is ultimately to ensure the correct result, why not play the game and then adjust the final on review afterward?

Just like with Neymar, I feel like players on opposing teams should actually crack the **** out of players that do that. I sure as hell did as a kid.

There should also be a committee that reviews games afterwards and hands out suspensions for blatant dives. Griezmann clearly dove and France scores off the ensuing free kick. We should have this crap affecting a world cup final. Hell VAR should be able to look at egregious dives during games.

Everything was handled properly. There wouldn't be any controversy if the free kick hadn't turned into a goal. But the fact that VAR can overturn only some egregious errors and not others is the frustrating part.

There isn't a good way to handle it unfortunately.

Retroactive cards for diving would end it quickly. Especially in a tournament environment.

Again, you are talking about rerefereeing a game. You just can't do that. What if that player you penalize after the game is given a second card? VAR is designed to catch the ones that most affect the game. The ones inside the area. Sometimes you think you see something and you get duped. It happens.

There was nothing controversial about the ball handling PK

It depends on timing. Sure, do it in the final and there really isnt punishment attached. Do it in the games leading up to the final and you wont be playing.

There are always times when one should dive. Like suarez's handball, sometimes the consequences are worth the action.

Any i bet many people will have differing opinions on the first goal call. French player did get hit a bit in the leg. So you may have people saying that is enough to call the foul even though the french player when down easily. And you amy have a ref look at the VAR and stay with a foul call.

Oh, and it was a handball in regular speed to. Slow-mo just made it easier to see.
