We all say this every World Cup. Hopefully VAR is proof that FIFA can evolve but seems like just "part of the game" right now.

When Neymar is heading into the box he has some decent opportunities but it sometimes plays out like his brain switches from how do i get a shot off to when can i fall and simulate a foul...

If they're not gonna card for flopping in the box, giving a PK for that last one would have been pretty harsh on Belgium, imho. Brazil = little boy who cried wolf.

This is the Kompany challenge. This is a bad miss by the ref and VAR. the ball is clearly in play and that's a PK and YC and borderline serious foul play with the exposed studs into the ankle.

the entire problem with soccer - and I'm a huge fan - is there is not a penalty below a yellow and refs are reluctant to give them for minor infractions.

My solutions is

Minor foul - no card but a 5 minute man advantage like in hockey
Yellow card - includes a 10 minute man advantage, 2nd = Red card
Red card - same as now with the ejection

Make the center circle the penalty area - they have to stay in there when serving a penalty. lol

Then start handing out minor fouls for all of these flops for example. And fouls that are not card worthy besides the free kick would include a man advantage.

Every other sport has some type of minor penalties to keep things in check and bigger penalties for flagrant stuff.

There is little risk right now for flopping.


Basketball for example has normal fouls and free throws, then flagrant fouls (level 1 or 2) and technical fouls.
Hockey has the minor and major penalties plus ejections.
Football has smaller and bigger penalties and then ejections for flagrant or targeting issues.

The 'Fro demonstrates that Brazilians aren't the only ones who can be histrionic. Guy takes headers with no ill effects, but a ball lightly tapped off his hair is apparently agonizingly painful.

VAR needs to fix flopping by handing out cards until it stops or is greatly reduced.

I wish they would just crack the **** out of Neymar. Belgium needs to watch some Costa Rica and Panama so they know how to Concacaf someone.

Soccer is growing on me but stuff like that from fifa is just stupid. And agree with ZJS that something has to be done about the flopping. For as obviously talented as Brazil is, they are incredibly annoying.
