G puts a great team together every year. We've been to the NCAAs 23 straight years. That's a spectacular run of sustained excellence. It turns out that the other team also wants to win the games. Sometimes they do, sometimes we do.
If we had this kind of two decades of consistent national-level play in other sports, say, football or men's basketball, people would be ecstatic.
G, Phil, and Lori guided this team through a string of injuries that at one point left only 3 available substitutes on the bench. We lost our heart of the offense to an injury. We had multiple injuries on the back line. We had several freshmen and transfers that needed to be plugged in. Nonetheless, this team nearly took the regular season title and put together a string of tough wins to take the SEC tourney.
That ND team is very good--probably the quickest assemblage of players we saw all year, and perhaps the best collection of individual talent across the field we've faced. Despite some very dubious officiating, this team showed the heart to fight back at the end of the game and nearly win the thing.
All in all, it's a ridiculous insult to these girls, G, Phil, and Lori to be calling for people to lose their jobs.
If you're dissatisfied, step up. Be positive. Personally invest your time and money to make a difference. Encourage these girls all year round. Encourage the coaches with letters and personal visits with them.
Make a positive impact if you really care. If you won't do that, then your opinion is of little value because you're just a spectator, not a part of making Aggie soccer excellent.
