IMO, a team of guys that had D2 and D3 offers will not put them in the Top25. Some of the posters on this thread mentioned they would have played at TAMU, but they didn't want to play at the small schools that offered them. So you're saying TAMU would be full of D2/D3 quality players.
I would love to see a men's team and would most likely be a season ticket holder as I am with Women's, but don't say the team will be Top25 immediately, that's not realistic. In nearly every sport, the best players in the country want to play for schools with a documented history of winning in their sport.
I think you're underestimating Texas soccer. No one is saying that all D2/D3 players would populate an A&M team.
We are saying that there is a large population of division 1 players, who currently go out of state or stay close to home and star for a smaller school, who would go to A&M. Yes, I am saying there are some D1 talents playing in local D2/D3 schools because they chose to stay in Texas, and that a few of these would play for A&M. I could bore you with lots of anecdotal evidence.
This article refers to Texas being #4 in terms of producing division 1 players even though we only have 3 D1 schools. And if we had 20 D1 schools we would have far more homegrown D1 players (because there is a population of players who choose to not play soccer instead of going to Massachusetts.).
