Mauro Diaz had surgery today to repair his torn Achilles. The surgeon, Dr. Robert Anderson, has performed the same operation on NFL players. The recovery time will be 8 months, which will keep him out the first half of the 2017 season.

Hopefully, Diaz doesn't go the way of David Ferreira. MLS seems to have a problem protecting creative players from constant "tactical" fouls. The fact that such players have their careers destroyed on cheap fouls is not just a disappointment to the affected club, but it also diminishes the quality of the league and perhaps discourages similar talents from coming here.

Yea, and whats bull**** about it is, a tactical foul should never be injuring someone. Their are just still too many thugs in the league

Ryan Hollingshead had this to say about Seattle's tactics on Sunday:

"There were a lot of late tackles or tackles were coming in through the man to get to the ball especially on our No. 10 and playmakers. They're not doing that by accident. That's not a guy accidentally getting through the man to get to the ball that's a gameplan right there. It looked like we may have picked up a couple of injuries in this game because of late tackles and guys getting crushed trying to get through to the ball, and at some point that needs to be stopped."

Arabe Unido beat Monterrey twice. FCD would've faced the Whitecaps when both were in preseason. But being on this side of the bracket means a semifinal would be Pachuca or Saprissa instead of Pumas or Tigres,

I'm curious if they'll roll out 4-4-2 in the playoffs and try to grind out wins or mix it up to replace Diaz. I know Acosta is not a like for like player but if they slide him into that role at least he is willing to try spraying the ball around. He came into that attacking mid role late a few weeks back in CCL and created some chances. At least that way we'd get Ulloa on to the field and we ought to be very tough to break down in the middle.

Correct. Lowest remaining seed is who Dallas plays. Essentially it's the NFL playoffs system.
