G Guerrieri breaks down '13 signing class

Notes from G Guerrieri Interview:

* The 2013 signing class is excellent and has some real home runs as well as players who will provide a good amount of depth.

* California is always a hot-bed for soccer recruiting, and A&M was able to pull two from the state this year.

* Ana Cruz from San Diego is one of the big-time players in the group. Her high school is a good school and she has a very similar background to current Aggie Allie Bailey. She should be able to step right in as a freshman and contribute.

* Ashlynn Harryman from Dana Point, California is an all-around player who can be plugged into multiple positions. She's a smart kid and comes from a great club in Southern California.

* Elizabeth Keester comes from Tulsa and is the Oklahoma Player of the Year. She was the leading scorer in the middle portion of the United States and will step in and immediately compete for playing time. She's a very competitive kid and doesn't tolerate losing.

* Taylor Saucier comes from Omaha, Nebraska and comes from the same high school as current Aggie Jackie Tondl. She has the hands of a tight end and all she does is win games. Within the Nebraska state championships, she holds a 27-1 record which is phenomenal.

* Sarah Shaw is a midfielder from Keller, Texas and is someone who has a big influence on the game. She kind of plays the part of the point guard and comes from a club team that has won a couple of national championships.

* Grace Wright hails from College Station and plays for her club team as well as the Irish National Team. Playing with the Irish team has allowed her to play against some of the best players in the world which helps in developing her talents. The staff expects her to come in right away and compete for playing time.

The defense needs to be more confident with the ball. Quit booting it all of the time. Passing it out of the back is important in maintaining possession.

I was looking to see how Elizabeth Keester is doing this spring and she had,, I think, 3 straight games where she scored 4 goals.

Elizabeth Keester continues to do well.

Continues to add to her already stellar career. She scored the championship goal with four minutes left to win the Class C bracket of the Heart of America Classic in Kansas City. Had five goals in the three-match tournament and selected Most Valuable Player. Keester also became Jenks' career scoring leader during the Classic with a total of 68.

Anotgher Elizabeth Keester update from the Tulsa World on April 23:

Career numbers rise: Jenks' Lizzie Keester scored both goals in a 2-1 overtime win at Union last week. Those goals raised the senior forward's school record career total to 73. This season Keester has 28 goals and nine assists and leads Class 6A girls scoring.

Aggie signee Taylor Saucier just set a Nebraska HS record for consecutive shutouts at 21 and counting. Her Marian HS team starts state championship playoffs on Monday evening as the #1 seed.

Elizabeth Keester strikes again:
(From the Tulsa World)
JENKS - Lizzie Keester's goal midway through the second half was all second-ranked Jenks needed to post a 1-0 Class 6A girls soccer quarterfinal victory over Broken Arrow on Friday night. Keester's solo breakaway tally with 17:49 remaining in the game punctuated an offensive flurry that started 13 minutes earlier in the second half after an apparent Trojans goal was nullified. Jenks seized control of the game following Keester's goal. The Trojans' offensive attack controlled the game's pace and their defense turned into a wall over the game's final 15 minutes.

We need to possess the ball better against the top teams, especially out of the back. The defense tends to boot it down the field even when there is no pressure. Florida made us pay for that repeatedly last year.

We need to get just a little bit better to overtake Florida and be the best in the SEC.
