I think this argument is ridiculous.

If you went to Texas A&M and graduated, and then moved to Alabama and attended graduate school there, who would you root for when the Ags played Bama? Would you root for your home state and your school, our the new state you lived in and the school you go to now because they're si much better?

I grew up in Mexico. Came to the US and became a citizen. Graduated high school and attended Texas A&M. Yes, I'm an American now, but I don't forget the team that I grew up with and the country that it represents.

If your American you should root for your country first and foremost.
