About the only time I've ever told my sister-in-law to shut up (despite the many times I've wanted to) is when she compared her new puppy to my new child. Something along the lines of well "we got you a grandpuppy" said to my mother in law while we were visiting with our six week old.

I'll now return to my regularly scheduled lurking.

Even before I was a parent (way back like 8 days ago), that nonsense drove me crazy. Your pet isn't a baby. Your pet doesn't have to go to brunch with you. I don't want to hear stories about what your pet did today.

You're not a pet parent, it's not a fur baby. You got a dog.
