SOLD

Bought new after winter storm Uri, kept crated until this past weekend when it powered our home (including 3 ton HVAC) for a day following the storm here in Houston. Approx. 22hrs. on the clock. Paid $1,150, asking $750. Has the 50amp outlet you want for a home connection, also electric & manual start. Performed break in with dino oil, now has full synthetic. Runs like a champ, just moving to nat gas.

Do you have a video of how loud it is

Any generator with an open frame is going to be loud. If you want a quieter one get an inverter. There is diy info on how to build a generator box to dampen some of the sound.

I'm aware, I own both

I do not, but I doubt a video would do it justice.

It's loud enough that when 15ft from house, you could hear it inside, though no louder than the air purifier running in the bedroom. I would liken it to a running riding lawnmower without the blade engaged.

ETA- not my video, but someone else did one:

Guessing you need new breaker panel and a pigtail or such to connect?
Any idea if you could run this about 20 feet from panel?
I could keep this outside and run to our panel but need 20' of cord

No new panel if you have a couple of open breaker spots. An electrician installs an interlock kit and a 50 amp SS-2 50p box like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Rophor-Generator-SS2-50P-Weatherproof-Outdoor/dp/B08QFWNGGW

The generator cord can be from 10-75' long, like these:

How long would a 100lb propane tank power this? To switch fuels is there anything special to do or just switch it over from propane to gas. I am interested and have an electrician coming over today to look at my options.

Is this a dual fuel model?

You know what I dont think it is, somehow I read that it was.

It's pretty simple though for a Westinghouse dual fuel model. If you have a propane tank connected all you do is open the tank valve, rotate the selector to propane, then shut off the gas valve.

Man if you were in Temple where I am this would be gone in 10 minutes. And I was in Houston with you last weekend navigating all the downed power

If someone at this point doesn't have a generator to handle situations like this I have zero sympathy.

Just an FYI- I "floated the neutral" so that it would pair with the house. For the uninitiated, a bonded neutral on a generator supports GFCI protection for use on a job site, but automatically trips the GFCI breaker if you plug it into a house panel. It's easily reversed if you prefer in bonded.

Awesome thanks for this. I've got a 100 lb tank I'm not doing anything with so this is a perfect use. Now I need to finish our garage apartment so we have a place to chill

Bump. Will throw in weather cover that can be used while operating.

Home depot rents trucks for like 20 bucks for 3 hours or something else equally absurdly cheap, for a potential solution.

Update. We lost power again after today's storm, so there are a few more hours on the meter. As I type this, it is handling both the downstairs (3 ton) and upstairs (2 ton) central HVAC units on staggered starts.
