There is only a 4-game difference in the all-time series.

But I do agree that the animosity is a recent phenomenon.

It's just that lately the sips haven't given us anyhing fresh to go on, and the tards have. That's all this comes down to.

Ya the ags havent been getting taken to the woodshed by anybody but tech the last few years. to be fair, i'm going to start hating the sips, the okies and corn just as much. yep all the animosity comes solely from losing, not getting treated like ****, whats the big deal with having your car keyed anyway

Dont let tecky know you dislike them.

They get off on stuff like that.

Since they really have no place in Texas society, they enjoy the attention a little TOO much. Ignore tecky at all costs

That is bull****. What did the band do? I've seen the video and they did nothing but watch the calvary go by. Then the ones who got the poo on them, including one of the band directors, had a look of shock on their faces.

FYI, the longhorn band directors would quickly jerk any band member who did anything classless like you are implying. Again, know it all, what did the longhorn band do?

I had absolutely zero animosity towards Tech...I even had an uncle who went there when I was a kid whom I visited a couple of times in Lubbock. That is, until I went to the 1997 A&M-Tech game in Lubbock my senior year of HS. I was shocked to see how drunk and idiotic the people sitting in the grass section were and by contrast how professional and respectable members of the Aggie Band behaved sitting just on the other side of the fence. That experience cemented my decision to attend A&M and join the Aggie Band. Things only got worse when I visited as a cadet in the following years.

The thing I dislike most about Tech is that a great many of their students come from my area and their behavior is embarrassing to me as a West Texan.

what you do is record the longhorn fans and then put the video one youtube with no explaination of why they are doing it(not that an explaination would make it ok). then they look like real dumbasses.

Most fans from both schools enjoy the rivalry in a fairly good-natured manner.

btw, Tech leads the series since 1945 by 30-28-1.

And since 1953, Tech leads the series by 28-23-1.

Games between the two schools through the decades have been typified by hard-fought, narrow victories. The Ags butchered the Raiders a couple of times in the early 90s, and the Raiders massacred the Ags a couple of times in the 00s, but those games were atypical. The series is generally characterized by nailbiting, win-it-in-the-fourth-quarter (or overtime) finishes.

this situation with tech is just inferiority complex run amok. The school is inferior, the town is inferior, the students are inferior and thats not a bad thing, its just the way things are. Jealousy is borne out of these feelings of inadequacy. After all, we all know that there are 3 things guaranteed in life- death, taxes, and admission to tceh.

I have to strongly disagree with the statement that college station is a better town then Lubbock. If you want to talk about surrounding area, then that is a different subject. But Lubbock itself is a great town. We have every place imaginable to eat, there are a ton of new businesses going up on the south and west sides of town (gander mountain, main event, cracker barrel, etc), plenty of good looking women, lots of night life, and the list goes on.

The only thing we need to do with Tech is start beating them. They're not THAT good. If they were, they'd have championships to show for it. Should they beat us sometimes, of course. But we shouldn't be their beotch as we are now, that's ridiculous. Losing to them at home last year was ridiculous. It should have been a 14 point win. Start winning and the rest of this crap goes away.

No, I said MOST of the resentment is due to losing. Not SOLEY. Read before you post next time. Also, you're lumping tech in with OU, texas, and NU...why? Losing half the time to those teams is ok, but losing to tech half the time (or most of the time like lately) is unacceptable. It's like losing to oklahoma state or Iowa state regularly - it shouldn't be happening. Hence the frustration.

This is in response to joeag, probably a frat rat. I didn't post a response because I was pretty angry at his juvenile insult at the Corps.

Remember joeag, without the Corps, the university that you were fortunate to attend would be just an average university. Without the Corps, you wouldn't have the wonderful traditions. I bet you don't even attend Aggie Musters, or Silver Taps, thank you Corps of Cadets. I've seen many things on game day that have absolutely embarrassed the hell out of me regarding the actions of NONREGS.

For example:

1. That **** who was on the Road Rules who was an Aggie. Yeah she sure showed what kind of classy women attend TAMU.
2. That stupid program on ESPN that covered the Aggies ones season. Man those NONREGS, like the ****s kissing each other at some bar(I bet many a parent just loved seeing that), or the loser who was trying to be in some stupid band, yeah what great examples of Aggies students.
3. The complete lack of respect that i've personally seen by NONREG students while visiting TAMU doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Joeag, those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I suggest the next time you make generalizations about the Corps, I suggest you spend a day or maybe a semester in their low quarters or boots.

The Corps is the Keepers of Traditions, remember that young man, and be a little more respectful of the cadets in that, what did you call it "military school".

How long do you want to ignore this user?
all of those people you just called out, they are also aggies and they help make up your school. being in the corps does not mean everyone has to like you, agree with you, follow you, or impress you. and why do call someone out for being in a frat. the corps is the largest frat on your campus. that is a fact, even if you dont call it that. the only difference is it is legal for them to haze. since most of them do not join the military afterward, they deserfe the title "FRAT." people from my frat at Tech went on and joined the military also.

Go Tech!

Sworksrider, the girls kissing on that show were not even A&M students. They were Blinn students.

Please, please spare me the "you need to respect the corps because its members fight for our country". Some of them do. But alot of them are in the Corps as a way to be a part of something on campus, be invovled, etc. Nothing wrong with that. But they are NOT going off to fight for the good old USA tomorrow, and that should not be an excuse for them being an embarrassment to our school, which they have been many times (tech 06 is a great example of that). Just looking at Corps block every week during football season is an ebarrasment to the school.

You say that without the corps A&M would be an average school. I would say that without 41K nonregs, A&M would be a backwater all male military school, obsolete as far as athletics are concerned, and pretty much ignored by the country. Like the Citadel.

DrKennethNoisewater
How long do you want to ignore this user?
the irony in all of this is striking

A&M sees everyone in the Big 12 other than OU and UT as inferior, and feels that they SHOULD never lose to any of them. yet A&M has managed to play themselves into a corner and has now become a complete afterthought in the eyes of most teams...including Tech. Losing to a&m is, to ALL Tech fans, completely unforgiveable nowadays. WE EXPECT TO WIN. im sorry, but it is true.

you ladies might make a bit of noise this year in the pre-season as usual, but you will lose 4 games (probably 2 of your first 4) and never be close to contending for anything more than 4th in the south.

time to embrace the horror Ags. im sorry

And how is that different from any other year of tech football? Haha...we may very well lose 4 games this year. That's my prediction...because I don't think Fran can get it done.

But the difference is this:

A&M loses 4-5 games over a stretch of several years...we're seen as sucking.

Tech loses 4-5 games over their best stretch in recent history under Leach...and no one even thinks about it.

quote:
A&M sees everyone in the Big 12 other than OU and UT as inferior, and feels that they SHOULD never lose to any of them.

Umm...no, we don't. Nice try.

Nobody is saying we should NEVER lose to the smaller schools. But we have the resources and size of texas, OU, and Nebraska. So it isn't wrong for us to expect our program to contend at the level of those three. Especially since our football program has sucked since 2000...meaning we're LONG overdue for a really good season.

Lubbutt is getting a Cracker Barrel, so that's a big improvement to the city and makes it better than B/CS? A freaking Cracker Barrel? Well yee-haw, there's another place to get a chicken fried steak in Texas.

And you said some of the guys in your frat joined the military? Of course they did! A degree from Tceh didn't allow them the opportunity to join the normal workforce. Aggie corps members join because they want to. Tceh frat guys don't like saying "paper or plastic?".

Cracker Barrel......wow, that is a REALLY strong point to your argument. Good to see that the debate team classes at tceh are as good as the rest of the curriculum.

This keeps getting brought up, yet Tech admits a smaller percentage of applicants than A&M and also has an average freshman SAT score only 30 points shy of A&M's.

Where do you get your information about Tech's admissions?

You're right. I said that Lubbock is better than college station simply because they are building a cracker barrel. I didn't at all mean that Lubbock is continuing to grow, and is already bigger than college station. I just think it's dandy that we got a cracker barrel. You do know that Lubbock is bigger than the entire brian/college station "metropolitan area," right?

What exactly is your criteria for deciding the better of two cities? We have plenty here to keep us happy.
jtw109
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Tech does lead the series in the modern era of football(post WW2) but only by 2 games. this series has been even, ags have won more championships but as far as head to head goes neither school can really claim superiority.

as far as academics go, both are well respected schools(despite what some ppl on this board think) Tech has a very good law school, along with a good medical school. A&M can't claim the same.

as far as towns, they are both great college towns. i would give lubbock the edge in overall college experience(nightlife, etc.) I don't think i'd want to live in either city permanently.

if lubbock were located closer to the metroplex, they would bring 80,000+ to each game also. and vice versa, if CS was out in west texas, they would probably only get around 50,000 at each game(you can drive into CS for the day for games, you have to cut a few days out of your schedule to get to and stay in LBK).

all of this being said, both schools have good qualities and not so good qualities, but i think they both are good institutions og higher learning!
