McCoy is already down and laying with his arms spread out, which he didn't do immediately after hitting the ground accoring to ABC's replays.

And Dodge has gotten BACK up and is walking toward the sideline. I don't see much in that pic. Wish ABC would have time synced both events. I think Heard was less out-of-line than we originally thought.

It got the guy ejected, so it must have been pretty late.

Still, we clearly have at least one guy on defense that plays with a serious mean streak. And we took out 6 years of complete frustration. I like those 2 things.

Notice how the tu player is still in the squating position, rather than standing up, and Colt is already on the ground.

McCoy is the first QB in history to be clocked after throwing a pick and becoming the defender - fact is he was a defender at that point (because of the pick) not a QB and shouldn't have been standing around jacking with his helmet

That hit also shouldn't have caused a problem if his injuray had healed - I think Mack played him knowing he was still hurt. IMHO

Looking at this picture I'm convinced now more than ever that the ball was still in play when the hit happened.

This photo shows that if Dodge does not go down McCoy would be able to have a shot at making a tackle,or at a minimum impeding the players progress...

It shows Dodge has already gone down and got back up. Heard took a cheap shot and paid for it.

that's actually Colt after Bennett's hit. It was so hard it drove Colt into the past.

That picture is SO clearly AFTER the play. Dodge isn't dumb enough to carry the ball by holding it over his head.

People at the game have said the hit was after the play was dead. It was either incredibly stupid (my guess) or dirty.

Move on.

Just showed a view on the Austin news that shows Colt going down in the background like 1/2 second after Dodge went down....it wasn't that late of a hit and he was running at McCoy facing the sideline and never saw Dodge go down...."if the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit."

Why would McCoy run towards the Aggie bench unless he was getting in position to make a tackle? When a pass is intercepted, you look for someone to block. Heard was up field. Unless he had eyes in the back of his head, or heard a whistle he won't know the play was over. Since McCoy ran over to the Aggie side of the field he may have thought McCoy was getting in position to make a tackle...who knows?

Sucks McCoy wasn't running to the sideline, he was slowly trotting that way and taking his helmet off. I haven't watched it again in real time, so i don't know if the whistle had blown or not

If you take your helmet off while you're on the field, knowing full well that you are surrounded by people who hate your guts, you are a freakin' IDIOT who deserves to get your clock cleaned.

Watch the zoomed in ABC replay of the hit again. There is a UT player that looks to be #62 running across the bottom of the screen (you can see the top of his helmet) and he clearly dives to make a play at the same time Heard is hitting McCoy. Why not a penalty there?

Look at this... last part of the clip

agclips.com/images/football/2006/texas/texas05.wmv

You see McCoy flush out and Heard on his tail... McCoy throws it away and Dodge ints it. Look at heards head as soon as Mark has it. It goes straight back to McCoy.. Why?? cuz he turned into a tackler! McCoy was the dumbass that throught the play was over.

Also if you watch that clip and keep your eye on the video timer you can see that Dodge's knee was down at 1:20, that picture was taken at 1:21 or 1:22 at the latest.

If the ref had perfect reflexes then the whistle would have been blown 2 seconds before that picture was taken at which point McCoy was already on his back. Worst case scenario Heard hit him 1 second after the whistle blew which barely deserves a flag.

I think the ejection was a reaction to the result of the play, not the timing of the action.

Guys, I officiate High School Football...

Believe me, his hit, even if not truly after the whistle, was unnecessary, cheap, and should have been flagged.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
If it was not after the whistle, then there is NO WAY it should have been flagged. Unnecessary? Yes. Illegal? Not at all. I would hope that an official would know better.

I was at the game and the hit was not after the play was over. It was, however, very close. I think the thing that caused Heard to be ejected was leading with his helmet. IMO it was legal...

Better read your rules book again, because if the hit wasn't late, it was legal.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
IT WAS NOT A HIT.................IT WAS A FREAKING PUSH!!

The play that hurt Colt's arm, was the played where our DL hit his arm while he was throwing the ball and got intercepted. That is when he hurt his arm, not because of the push by # 91.
Rascal
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Here's the deal:

Heard saw we intercepted the ball, turned to block somebody and it just happened to be the QB.

Because he was focused on his block, he had no idea that the play was already over, which doesn't excuse the late hit. Aside from the fact that it was a late hit......even if the play was still goin on, it should have been an illegal block in the back because he hit him in the back of the shoulder and his helmet wasn't in front of McCoy's chest.

Cheap shot or not, it was still a stupid attempt at a block by a knucklehead who has made plenty of these mistakes all year! I appreciate his fire and hustle, but sometimes that gets the best of you!
