The Fran hate seems to be a little out of control. It's almost just turned into a big ongoing joke now about him being soooo horrible and ruining our program...

I am an idealist, but this isn't meant to be a sunshine pumping post. I just think many posters on here need to take a step back and think what they are typing before spouting off so nonchalantly.

I would hate to think about if any of the Franchione friends or family read on here.

Fran is NOT intentionally driving our program into the ground. He has never ruined a program before in his career, and he is NOT ruining Texas A&M's.

No one has any idea what would have happened if RC had stayed or if we had someone besides Fran. The current woes could be just as bad or worse. No one knows.

There have been some questionable decisions and some letdowns for us fans, but let's not completely slander our coach. This will likely be his last position. If he leaves here for any reason, I'm pretty sure he will retire. Fran openly stated how he had always dreamed of coaching here; this is his dream job. I can not believe that he isn't doing EVERYTHING in his power to bring get A&M back as a perineal powerhouse in college football.

It has been made more than clear that his job is on the hotseat and that he knows it. Now leave the man alone and quit bashing him.

I believe next years results will speak for themselves.

What else are we going to do besides joke about it? Cry about it?

These forums are about A&M football. Our football sucks, so the posts reflect that.

Look, posts like these calling out the so-called "Fran haters" do nothing but generate the type of crap you are trying to prevent.

The point is, until Fran either starts winning big consistently, or is fired, there are going to be posts about his coaching (or lack thereof) to date, and ability or inability to turn our program around.

I will support Fran for one more year. If we suck again next year....then I am off the FranPlan. As for your comment about "what if Fran or his family read our comments..."

I think he is paid enough to handle some upset fans writting stuff on this website.

Its not about hating the man.

Its about realizing the best he ever did isn't exactly our idea of perfection. It might be for a smaller school or one on probation, but not for TEXAS A&M!

I'm just trying to point out how extreme the bashing has gotten. STAFF doesn't even try to stop it anymore its gotten so bad.

We should show Fran some support as A&M's head coach. We don't have to like him or think he is a good coach, but just ease off the hate.

Dude. You are so right. I don't think Dennis Franchione has been given the benefit of the doubt to institute "the program". At least this season, all of that deadwood that R.C. Slocum recruited will be gone(Reggie, Appel, and the rest of the slackers).

My hope is that Coach Fran turns this thing around this year and the Ags go 7-5 or 8-4. If he does this, I hope Coach Fran gets a raise, a contract extention, and is here for many, many years to come.

Calling it "bashing" or "hating" implies that it is not based in truth, or that there is some motive behind it other than just an honest reaction to the product he's putting on the field.

I agree that we could ease up on the hate, but this quote from the Baylor fan pretty much tells you all you need to know about Fran's performance so far:

That is EXACTLY what I would have posted.

If Fran does not like getting called out for his record he can quit. It is not like he coaches us no charge or something. He gets paid quite well to deal with this. If you want to call somebody out then call out those who would rather blame the players for our woes. They do not get paid nearly as well as fran.

Calling him on his record is one thing, but the bashing has gone waaay beyond that.

I think that we as aggies are above bashing of a coach or a player for any reason. I think that this is reserved for other schools that don't maintain the same level of morals as we do and thats what make aggieland a special place. For some reason Fran has not yet seemed to 'click' at texas a&m like he has at other school and that dissapoints me. But I do believe that he will do better next season and if not then he should know that its time for him to move on.

Well then nobody at TAMU is an Aggie...

There is no "click" involved in it. It isn't a switch. You either have it or you don't. Thats it. Its nothing personal against Fran himself, but we fired a legend for him, and his best season is only one win more than our legend's worst season.

unfortunately, i think that this may be the problem. "Everything in his power" might not be enough--maybe that's the point some posters have been making?

Roy, the little debbies thing may be wrong, but the trees in the forest he brought on himself. When you make less than good decisions on the field, lead a talented team to underperform, then make some comment about trees in the forest, well you get what is coming to you. Like I said, fran is a big boy. He is getting paid well to deal with this. All our whinning and moaning is not going to change how he does next season one way or the other. He has total control of his situation and we can only go on the ride he gives us. Believe me, if he wins 11 games next season he will receive much more praise than he ever received in hate. It comes with the job.

I was on campus and reading frans interview on the "forest" day. Somebody quoted him and I remember thinking WTF!!!

I'm so tired. Very sleepy.
