I ran a construction crew that works around his office, and has done small renovations that they needed. He was nice as hell to all of my guys, no matter how low on the totem pole they were. He would even throw off his coat and grab a hammer like he was going to jump in and help. He will never ask your name more than once either, and is what A&M really needs.

It be cool if Coach Fran would take your son into the locker room carrying his aggie helmet and introduce him to the team before the tu game and tell him that he's their biggest fan, but he's had to put up with a lot of S$h't from the sip kids thourghout the whole school year. And he could ask the team to beat the hell out of tu! Just a thought. Sometimes you need incentive. If you can't do it for yourself maybe you can do it for someone else. BTHOOtu

Great story. My daughter has also had to put up with a lot of smac from kids wearing burnt orange. A couple of years ago she had to go to something called "peer remediation" because she wouldn't back down from the other girls whose parents were wannabe sips. (Thank goodness we live in Tyler where they mainly talk about tu, not actually go to school there.) Anyway, my wife thought she was going to the principal's office and blamed me for her socially abhorrent behavior.

My Aggie buddies thought it was good bull and wanted to give her money...

Byrne is the first professional AD A&M has ever had -- ten years at Oregon, ten years at Nebraska. He will do the right thing at the right time. The last year or so show he is not afraid to make tough decisions -- whether firing coaches or having a little more patience than the average Ag.

That wasn't the purpose of my post obviously. I was trying to give kudos to someone who did something really nice and who sometimes is villified.
