They are sloppy tacklers, out of position often, and don't pressure the point.

A lot of that seemed to be over-pursuit.

On the play where the DB was called out after the int, the replay showed his foot in ...maybe, maybe not, as mentioned by others, our angle on the TV was very different than the angle of the refs ...BUT, I notice the refs were confused on making the call, or did you all miss that? They should have used the replay option.

Why didn't Fran protest the call? Was he too busy snacking on his Little Debbie?

Yes, I thought that was a pick as well or at least review-able. Also, Franks 2nd fumble late in the 4th quarter was close to his knee being down.

FSN never showed the replay.

As far as the PI goes, I saw it as the TE and DB bumped bodies with the TE being more or less the instigator of contact.

The ball was literally micro-seconds after release. Technically, it was PI.

I contend technically the KU play was PI.

However, in both cases it is rarely called. In the case of the TSU player, it was:

A-so close to the line of scrimmage and
B-so close to the release of the ball and
C-essentially body contact and not a push off

Look, please don't get offended that I am saying you should have lost or blah, blah, blah. I am simply telling you my interpretation of that play.

Regardless of the outcome of that play, your defensive performance has many on this site worried and angry.

In the end, y'all won. Officiating good, bad, and ugly is part of the challenge of winning.

There were plenty of odd calls and FSN's limited resources for replay made it tough to really tell how many good or bad calls were played out.

Objective, good posts, are Texas fans as bitter about a loss or close win to an inferior opponent as we are, and don't you think that with the recources that both A&M and Texas have that we should both be a top 20 or top 10 team every year, or am I looking through my maroon colored glasses again?

How much will Fran give back this year, another Million?

Good analysis! Very true in a lot of ways!

Good analysis...

Ags seem to play to the level of the competition...

Also, tsu had well over a week to prepare for the Ags, and it showed...Ags were going off 3 days (Not an excuse), and it showed...

Offense was great, Reggie had too many over thrown/poorly thrown balls (at least 2 would have been TD's)...

Schroeder is white lightening...

Ags should be fine for baylor, secondary was one of the main concerns coming into the season...Also, i didn't think the officials played a major role in the Ags victory, they missed several calls (including a few false starts and some blatant holding calls, should be expected as they were a replacement crew)...

Finally, Im glad Im not on the team this week

Come on, you're looking throug maroon-colored glasses. You should know by now that us Texas fans, after those types of games you mentioned, calmly and rationally discuss our weaknesses amongst ourselves in a polite and respectful manner with civility ruling the day. We then kindly pass along our thanks to the staff for coming away with the W.

Not to whine about it too much, but I think we've had an opponent of ours called for offensive holding like, maybe 2 times in 3 games, but I seen it happening pretty fragrantly half a dozen times a game or more. Is there something our D linemen are doing that makes it ok for the offense to grab their arms and jerzeys from the side or behind and hang on?

Other than that, our backers don't seem to be able to read formations very well..they're often out of place, or react too slowly. We are total suckers for a screen pass, and telegraph our blitzes horribly. Our blitzing players go for designated lanes instead of available gaps, and often end up blocked by even a remotely decent offensive scheme....

I think the top 25 talent we have is quite capable, but I have serious doubts about the schemes and the way the players are coached.

Mouth, every fan of every team in the nation could make that same claim about being held. There's a reason why they say the officials could call a hold on virtually every play.

Courtney looked all Big 12 and Jason did so well too because it was a 1-AA team. We'll see how both do when it gets to playing some Big 12 teams.

Actually, the ref that made the call wasn't confused... if you watched him, he never took his eyes off of the spot where the foot touched the line. He calmly walked up to it, keeping his eyes on it, and then told the other ref why he was looking at that spot... the other ref signaled the call, and then the ref that made the call got to the spot and pointed out the footmark the aggie's foot had made. Also, you act as if the refs on the field decide whether a play is reviewed or not. The replay official in the booth is the only person that can decide if he wants a closer look at a play or not.

Oh and as far as the poster that made the comment about the announcers saying "well wait a second," you do know the announcers were aggies, right? What else are they going to say... they're paid to be unobjective.

I think South would do it for free.

As BOM's reply so accurately portrayed cynically, we are the same way. We struggled against much lower competition many times and react the same.

I think it is somewhat unrealistic for Texas or Texas ATM do be top 10 every year.

Here is my overview of expectations for Texas...

We should be bowl eligible 28 of 30 years. Once every 3 decades we will have a rebuilding year due to coaching changes and once we can have problems with terrible injuries.

We should finish in the top 25, 25 of the 30 years. Maybe 2 times we lose the bowl game on off years.

We should finish top 10-15, 15 times of the 30. Maybe this is too tall an order, but I think we are capable of it.

We should win our conference 10 times of the 30. OK, I admit we are way the freak behind on this expectation.

We should win a BCS bowl at least 6-7 times out of the 30.

We should win one MNC at least every 30. Maybe this is too low, but we are on 35 years and couting...
