For those of you coming to the Clemson game. <ill post this a few times heading up toward gameday/print this out/cutpaste and send to buddies going; ill be making updates and adding little ‘tidbits’ so check it when you see the post from Clemsontiger3>. Im a local here and life long Clemson fan and graduate 00’. Im anxiously awaiting kickoff and welcome you guys to Clemson, it’ll be a fun trip for y’all!
Anything I haven’t included for you just ask, email: karlburns@charter.net
GETTING TO THE GAME: <directions are easy>
If you are staying in Greenville, Atlanta, or anywhere else for that matter: Two ways, either HWY 123 straight into Clemson, or I-85 to EXIT 19 towards Clemson, then straight into Clemson. Just follow the cars with orange Tiger Paw flags. It’s a pretty short trip from G’ville, Anderson, Easley, Seneca, or anywhere else in the UpState. Atlanta: 2+ hrs depending on traffic and where you stay in ATL.
TRAFFIC: Traffic flow has been improved greatly in the past few years and since it’s a night game, it should be pretty smooth sailing the whole way in, no matter what time of day you head over, but I suggest making a whole day of it.
PARKING: you’ll probably want to plan to park in ‘General Parking’ which is down in a hole on HWY 93 <kinda near dwtwn/campus>. You may also try to park dwtwn, there are a few churches, etc that you can park for $10 if you get there early. The Lots that you will see people tailgating in are for IPTAY/Clemson booster members, so if you don't have a hangtag pass, can’t park in the Lot. If you do park in GenParking, I suggest that you don't spend the whole time ‘with your own’, walk up the sidewalk towards dwtwn, hang out at the Esso Club, walk through dwtwn, and walk around the tailgating Lots and ill guarantee you’ll be invited to hang out to have a few beers with Clemson fans. Id stay around the Lots closest to dwtwn side of the stadium, ain’t a whole lot going on in the paved Lots on the other side of the stadium.

TICKETS: If you don't have tickets, don't sweat it, just come anyway. You can find tickets all around, a central place where you can find them is the IPTAY/ticket office which is attached to the stadium. Just get a ticket and get in the stadium and you can find a seat in the A&M section no matter where your ticket says your seats are. Keep in mind though, if you have a lower deck ticket you can go to the upper deck, but you cant go from upper deck to lower deck.
FIRST FRIDAY PARADE/CLEMSON: The Friday night before the first game of the year, we have a tradition called ‘the First Friday Parade’ which is a short, small little parade that goes through downtown which some student organizations/Fraternity/Sororities put on. It will start around 6 and its low key and great for kids. People will be milling around downtown Friday night at; Esso, TD’s, Tiger Town Tavern, Sloan Street, Keith Street, etc; make a bar crawl out of it and check out all of them, heck most of them are across the street from one another. No dance clubs or weirdo bars in Clemson, just college bars, so if that’s your thing, go to Atlanta.
FRIDAY NIGHT IN G’VILLE: Drive into dwtwn G’ville and park in a parking garage. I think I saw someone post that the Hyatt is the ‘12th Man Hotel’, that’s great because its right in the middle of dwtwn. All the bars and restaurants are in short walking distance. Cool bars/hang out places for the football type crowd will be Corner Pocket, Wild Wings; there are also some smaller bars around. Meet me at Corner Pocket, it’s the biggest bar square footage wise.
IF IN ATLANTA: For the 21-30 crowd check out The Compound on 14th Street in Midtown, per above, not a weirdo club.
Since the game isn’t until 8:00, you’ll have all day to check things out. A central gathering place and destination of visitors as well as Tigers alike is Esso Club; they’ll have a band playing outside, just like all Clemson bars--aint fancy--just true college bars! Everything is within walking distance so stroll around some. BE PREPARED, there will be HOT girls swarming allll over the place in little sundresses, etc!!!
Any directions you need around campus, just ask someone!
At 7:15 or sooner!
This is when you should start heading towards the stadium so you can make it to your seat to witness what is known as ‘the most exciting 25 seconds in college football’ and ‘the best entrance in college football’; which is when my beloved Tigers run down the Hill. ***DO NOT MISS THIS!!!***, for a football fan the trip wasn’t worth it unless you got to see this!!! I predict about 84,000 fans for the game, its gonna be LOUD!!!
MILITARY APPRECIATION: Every year we have a Military Appreciation day, and what better game to have it than with y’all. Clemson was started as a military school and has a strong military history. Goings on for this will be: flyover of F-16s, Cadets marching in First Friday parade, and A&M/Clemson veterans running down The Hill <which will be before the team runs down the Hill>.
I hope you have a great time here, but I also hope we whup ya!! Some additional advice, please don't yell out ‘Go Cocks’ ---dems fightin’ words around Clemson!!! <University of South Carolina Gamecocks is our in state rival>
AND SOMEBODY PLEASE BRING ME A 12TH MAN TOWEL!!!
Go Tigers!
