I think it's safe to say that Aggies are a bit bitter towards Bama fans, after some of the thigns they have said about us, Fran, and many other things. With that said, none of us want to see anyone's life destroyed by this hurricane. It is ironic (in the scope of college football, remember, this is a college football forum) that Alabama would be hit by Hurrican Dennis. None of this wish this upon anyone, and we sympathize for you and anyone affected by it.

Well, let me enlighten you. In 2002, Fran and his entire family had their lives threatened, individually, from numerous Alabama Fans prior to him accepting the job at Texas A&M. It is one of the reason's he did not return to address his team. Fran's daughter's cell phone number appeard on many a Bama fan site for days. People bragged about calling her.

We have had to live with people calling Fran classless, lowlife, disrespectful for the better part of two years because we took the high road. What would we gain by telling the media that the reason Fran stayed in Texas after accepting the job was because Bamafan was quoted, "Come back to Bama, and we will kill you."???? Nothing, that is why it was left unsaid.

Look, we are all sorry that your livlihood is threatened. No one here hopes Alabama gets hit. I wish Dennis would park his happy ass over Cuba for the next two weeks and then peter out. But if you can't step back from life and laugh a little bit, what else is there?

I would like to put it this way. When the Bonfire fell we got alot of support from alot of people. Do you have any idea of what people would do if a forum like this started to "joke" or talk about "irony" at a time when none of us wanted to hear it.

You're being just as immature as some of the thoughtless people on here who have made statements hoping that Dennis hits Alabama hard. You're characterizing an entire university for the ill-advised words of a few.

I live in northern Alabama. Two of my three sons are Aggies. The third is an Auburn alumnus. I can assure you that none of them, nor I, wish you anything but the best of luck.

I know all about what big tropical storms can do. I took a diesel-electric submarine through a Category FIVE typhoon (sustained winds > 150 knots, mountainous seas) in the western Pacific. It was unbelieveable.

I'm genuinely saddened that you suffered so much damage to your home and business. But I can't help but wonder if you're not one of these people who dismiss the damage earthquakes do in California by sneering, "They knew about the San Andreas Fault but they built their houses there anyway. Tough."

You built on the Gulf Coast. It isn't like hurricanes are strangers to that part of the country. I suspect you knew the risks going in. Now, having seen the results from Ivan, it appears you've gone back for more.

We can all hope and pray that Dennis just dies out, but there appears to be little chance of that. If it doesn't, it's gonna hit (and hurt) a lot of folks somewhere along the coast. 50-60 years ago it wouldn't have done much damage because the area was sparsely populated and largely undeveloped. Today it's a completely different story. Unfortunately, you're a part of today.

Good luck, but once again, don't condemn the many for the transgressions of a tiny few.

Not even close to the same situation, at all...that is a very poor reference to try and make your point...

A.) the hurricane hasn't even landed in the US yet
b.) Nobody (save the one comment on teh first thread) wants any damage done to Alabama or the people there
C.) Hurricanes are expected in that part of the country (ie at least 3 hit last year)...Bonfire was a freak accident

Nobody (except that one person) is joking about death and destruction, they are joking about a picture and the name of a hurricane...In fact its not even joking about that, its joking about the irony of the name of the hurricane...

Let me set the record straight here.

I am an Alabama fan who was born in Texas and has 2 cousins that attend A & M. Personally I would rather live in Alabama than Texas anyday but that has no real relevance in this discussion. It is just a personal preference..to each his own I say. I would like to address a few things.

1. A hurrican is a serious thing and shouldn't be joked about no matter how ironic one may think it is. For those bringing up people threatening Fran when he left let me say this...every school, Alabama and Texas A&M included have a select few fans that constantly do and say things that embarrass the rest of them. Were Bama fans upset that Fran left, yes and it made sense they lost a quality coach. However 99% of Bama fans never made a threat towards him or his family or ever said anything derogatory about Texas A&M. If you choose to believe a few internet posters who have nothing better to do with their time than play online represent an entire University then you are ignorant.

2. Anyone generalizing people who live in Alabama as ignorant, redneck lowlifes need to wake up. Alabama is the same as any other state as far as people. As someone who has lived in each state and has family in each state I can speak to this better than most. The only difference between the two states is that Alabama has a larger % of African-Americans whereas TExas has a larger Hispanic %. Not that anything is wrong with that..just a fact.

3. The person who said that Ivan did $27 million worth of improvement to Alabama needs to learn a little about the state first. Our state is very beautiful..we have gorgeous beaches and lovely foothills in the northern part of our state. We are one of the leading states in automobile production and have more navigable waterways than any other state.

4. On behalf of the Bamanation I would like to apologize to each of you for any insensitive or crude remarks made towards Fran or your University. All that I ask is that you too refrain from such ignorance.

I'll admit as well as anyone that the last six or seven years have been bad but look at OU and Miami. They had rough stretches too but they came through it and both have won it all in recent years, that's what GREAT programs do.

Now, do me a favor....USE a timemachine if you want but explain to me why ANYONE would want to be like TAM? They've never been a national power and other than TAM fans nobody thinks they will be.
