Man, even my junior high had its own fight song...I hate it when schools rip off tunes from other schools.

Although, when you think about it, the more high schools that have our War Hymn as their fight song, the more we are training kids to have that song ingrained in their minds.

But one thing that throws me is a school like North Garland where my wife teaches; they are the Raiders, and yet they play our fight song. But to add insult to insanity, after the part which should be sung "rough tough real stuff Texas A&M" the whole stadium goes into "guns up" mode chanting some sort of Raider lyric...makes me sick.

Don't think this has been mentioned yet, but I believe the Sealy Tigers use it. Used to tick me off so bad, because I knew I was going to A&M my senior year of high school, and I had to hear the War Hymn coming from those a-holes.

Yes, Rockwall HS uses the War Hymn, but it's more like the war hymn on speed. Also, their colors are orange and white. Rumor has it, the town was divided when choosing colors and fight song with Aggies and sips, and they ended up with one side getting the colors and the other getting the song.

One of the Baytown schools (Sterling or Lee) had a drum and bugel(sp.) marching band that performed somewhat like the FTAB and also played our fight song during there routine.

The Poteet Aggies do indeed play the War Hymn.

My old high school played Patton, but it wasn't our "official" fight song.

I think Wisconsin's fight song is the last part of the War Hymn. You know that part that goes, "Late one night...when the t-sips were in bed..."

FWIW: Flatonia's Alma Mater is "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!" Our band director used to admonish us when we'd sing along while they were playing it!

Your state champion Ennis Lions not only use the War Hymn, but they also have a military-style marching band that forms a block-E at the end of the routine. Makes me feel right at home.

How did all this sawdust get under the hood?

ag-seventy....i went to rockwall high and yes, we did use the war hymn.....but, during pep rallies, the band would play alot of the texas fight song as well (mainly cuz some jackass coach was a longhorn fan), but our "fight" song was based on the aggie war hymn

More likely, you just aren't aware of where it was ripped off from. There are very, very few unique fight songs in use.

We used the stupid worn-out Notre Dame fight song at Stamford High School, and one of our chief rivals, the Anson Tigers, used The Eyes of Texas, hated it every time I heard it.

Public Enemy # 1, the Haskell Indians, used "Haskell High, Oh Haskell High" as their school song, so of course everyone from Stamford sang along with them, to the tune of "O Christmas Tree."

The Winters Blizzards, not surprisingly, use Winter Wonderland.

Baytown's R.E. Lee HS has (or had) an all female drum and bugel corp, every but of music they played was the tyical A&M band music finishing with the aggie war hymn.

Pearsall High School in Pearsall, TX plays the War Hymn as their fight song...their mascot is also a "Maverick" so they use the longhorn logo on EVERYTHING AND their handsign is the "hook 'em"...confused kids I tell you.

It's kinda strange to watch them flash the "hook 'em" whenever the war hymn begins.
