Aggies do not lie, cheat or steal nor do they tolerate those who do.

Good luck to those who were scammed.

I think I'd go to church there next weekend. Sit in the back. When the collection plate comes around, just reach in for the refund you are owed.

That would be awesome.

We asked the Concierge at the Adams Mark where we could buy some ice at 6:00 AM gameday and mentioned MLK as a possiblity. He rolled his eyes and said he would not buy anything on MLK even at noon. We bought at a Shell station on McKinney and went down Commerce. We even got a police escort because the team was on the way to the CB.

This is a clear example of why the Cotton Bowl and The RR Shootout are going to be in Arlington as soon as the Cowboys get their domed stadium built. They would be frigging stupid not to.

You shouldn't be asking strangers where to buy drugs. Dude could have been undercover.

We parked by a church on MLK (not sure which one) and were lucky not to be towed. I cannot believe that some one could be that low. Good luck with the lawsuit.

Do the news story on Sunday before or after worship services, have signs which read "Thou shall not steal."

Towing companies have been out of control in Dallas for years. I've lost count of how many news stories I've seen about stuff like this. Why can't the city do something about them?

Go to the church, ask to speak, and quote the Gospel of our Lord.....

John 2:13-17
2:13 The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2:14 In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.

2:15 Making a whip of cords, he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

2:16 He told those who were selling the doves, "Take these things out of here! Stop making my Father's house a marketplace!"

2:17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

--------------------------------

Then tell the congregation how their pastor turned his church into a marketplace on Saturday, January 1.

There should be a sign painted with that and nailed to the front door of the church Martin Luther style.

I,m not a lawyer but have worked auto theft in the past. You might also contact the state with your info and try to get the tow company license pulled or at least a civil fine imposed.

they did a story on WFAA yesterday during the noon news talking about it and the lawyer of the tow company was defending the actions saying the sign was up two days before and how the bottom of the sign has to be 5ft above ground in which it was only 2ft 9 in.

Take it to them.

If this happened in Houston, you'd be towed in 6 minutes. Mayors orders.

One more reason why the cotton bowl should be moved to Houston and we should not play any other games in that stadium.

According to the first poster, the preacher and tow company did this to two full lots of cars. It should be pretty easy to debunk the lawyer's crap about the sign being there if more cars than the parking lot can hold were towed.

I want this to be tracked and kept up with. Tow truck companies are only above PTTS workers in my scum of society ladder.

If they couldn't park there, why charge 5 dollars and why two full lots towed.....see who owns the church and town company property...figure out what that is worth and go after that if possible too.

i do think the cotton bowl will move to Arlington, but don't think the texas/ou game will be moved unless the state fair is also moved

I am glad to hear that you have an attorney working on this in Dallas.

Based on past experience I can tell you that writing letters will accomplish little, if anything.

The only thing most businesses respond to is a lawsuit properly served upon them.

I searched on Google for Elite Towing and scams and found and article written in 1996 about the scams that Elite has pulled in the past. They were the same as happened after the cotton bowl. The frustrating part of the article was how the City of Dalls as bascially thrown up thier hands and said this was a civil matter. I don't have a link to the article, but is was in the Dallas Observer in 1996.

God bless all of you fighting these scumbags in court. Most of these "independent" churches are just fronts for the "preacher" and his family(ies).

If a car is illegally towed, shouldn't that be considered theft?
Chase
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would think it is theft...I'm wondering if the city just doesn't want to mess with this at a higher level because figuring out who, exactly, to charge is a mess. Obviously the officers are trying to keep involved by helping folks and kudos to them.

Someone said before that there was a witness to the person REMOVING the sign after the first full lot got towed so it could fill back up. That would trump the assertion by their lawyer that the sign had been up for two days and violate the 24 hours before towing rule. This sounds like a pretty easy case, especially given prior history (stated by the cops and, now, in that Observer article)...should be a slam dunk and hope you guys get the license pulled from that company.

a few years back, when my truck was stolen from houston; it was driven up to dallas, and a towing company towed it from an illegal parking space. then they waited a week, mailed me a letter and wanted me to pay 500 dollars in holding fees!! they didnt even bother to check to see if it was stolen or not. so i had to get DPD involved. those guys up there are crooked.

sounds like a part of the country I area up in reading that article.

Look up every former case filed, news articles, etc. Perhaps contact folks from past cases, this sounds a lot like RICO to me.

Folks like this fall and fall hard.

You've got a winning case, just take them down!
and keep us updated!

That was one of the best articles I have ever read. How is it that this has been going on since the mid-90's and Dallas has yet to close it down? Unbelievable. Good Luck Ags! but we may win the National Championship before this is resolved. The only way to get action - either with Dallas or Elite - is through the pocketbook. So, I hope they move Cotton Bowl to Arlington soon - I am sure gonna avoid FairPark like the plague it is.

Wow.

It was bad enough to hear about the Ags cars being towed, now after reading that article I am just blown away. The article was originally published back in 1995, so how long has this stuff been going on?? The mayor of Dallas should be on a personal mission to get them closed down. The article says they have 'thrown up their hands and said its a civil matter'. If city leaders don't get involved and commit resources to ending this charade, they are just as bad for allowing it to happen.

I really HOPE they lose the Cotton Bowl after hearing this.

Wow, just blows my mind.
