We can't fire HW because we don't have anyone to back fill him…. You want our QB coach to backfill HW? The biggest issue is we didn't hire an experienced guy to help HW out, we should've pushed for clawson as QB coach and let him mentor HW and review his game plans / scripts and at least be an experienced voice of how to adjust when things go to ***** (Dickey was also this type)

Given extension and guaranteed contract this only real lever we have is NIL support. "Ok coach, so you don't want to change QB and OC…great…looking forward to how next year looks on your coaching resume with $0 NIL to build a team with." Everything else just promotes the status quo with no real downside or leverage for coach to change.

Requires an AD with sack

Our AD has nothing to do with the football program

Right. And Elon has nothing to do with SpaceX

This comes up continually. "The AD should tell Elko to do this, that or the other."

Or else what? The AD fires Elko? Elko is in charge of the football program, not the AD. If the AD doesn't like how he's managing the program, he can always show Elko the door and hand him a giant check on the way out.

Personally, I think it's because our OC is really a wide receiver coach who can recruit his ass off. I'd bet anything. Elko wants to keep him on staff next year. Can't do that by firing him now.

Bingo. Elko has created a real problem for himself, here. This was my first concern early on when we started struggling. If we have to fire HW, we lose a massive recruting presence. As they say, you lie in the bed you make.

Hopefully we can figure out a way to retain him. Unfortunately, you do not hear too many examples of OCs going back to their previous role. They are usually let go. Big thumbs down and yet another example of our CEO potentially making a terrible decision for the organization.

It's very simple. Demote Wiggins and bring in a stud OC for next year. Also let Reed hit the transfer portal and bring in a 5 star QB for next season.
