Well we could replace at least one of them, the QB.

Yes, but that's up to the head coach who is also the problem

Amen on this. Instead of running this as a $45 million NIL business plus coaching salaries, we run a day care where everyone will get a particular trophy at the end of the year.

Personally, I think it's because our OC is really a wide receiver coach who can recruit his ass off. I'd bet anything. Elko wants to keep him on staff next year. Can't do that by firing him now.

Bingo. Elko has created a real problem for himself, here. This was my first concern early on when we started struggling. If we have to fire HW, we lose a massive recruting presence. As they say, you lie in the bed you make.

Hopefully we can figure out a way to retain him. Unfortunately, you do not hear too many examples of OCs going back to their previous role. They are usually let go. Big thumbs down and yet another example of our CEO potentially making a terrible decision for the organization.

Lanning fired the OC because he didn't want to get canned himself.

For this season, what jt16 said. That's it. And he is stuck.

I think multiple posters have identified why we won't fire Wiggins. Now I expect a demotion back to WR coach because there are systemic failures on the offense. Besides if we fire Wiggins now who is going to replace him. Lynch? Well that would be demonstrably worse! No, Elko is stuck until the end of the season. Now could a QB change in season help? Probably.

Oregon is going to regret giving up that continuity!

On a more serious note, I'm still not convinced Wiggins is a bad OC. I see a lot of good plays that Reed just doesn't execute.

Why? Why, you ask? Because we have the dumbest mother ****ers on the planet involved in our football program. From the TOP to the bottom, idiots.

Wiggins and Reed arent the problem, and neither is Elko to a degree..

Talked with a guy I work with (tOSU grad), and he says the issue lies with the Motorola Walkie-Talkie Wiggins uses…

Those things break down and glitch all the darn time…

The correct play probably isn't getting conveyed due to radio interference…

Nothing is gonna change this season except for maybe QB if we all get our wish. But remember folks, grass isnt always greener. Elko is fearful that Hart goes out there and is an even bigger disappointment than Reed. Then what is everyone going to say? He is backed into a corner with no exit whatsoever.

I only hope that Elko ignores his pure loyalist approach as a CEO and HC. Time to grow up to modern world of cutthroat NIL. What have you done for me today? This is Elkos biggest issue. I do not believe it is coaching. He is proven as one of the best defensive coaches in football, no argument there. But he clearly needs more leadership help within the offense. Klein was a blessing to Elko....none of knew it as many were complaining about Klein.

Elko has a career defining opportunity this off season. I still believe he is a very good HC but one that is learning valuable lessons as a CEO. His loyalist mentality is his worse enemy IMO. Sucks to say but truthful.

I think this is a very good analysis. Watching this all unfold I have thought that Elko's loyalty is now biting him hard. He wanted a culture of loyalty and hard work that would pay off. I think generally speaking that is commendable and should be applauded. However, it has gone terribly wrong on offense. He has no choice but to do as you pointed out and become more ruthless if he wants to be successful long term.

We'll know real quick in this off season if he has adapted. My gut feeling is that he knows what he has to do but in season he is trapped by his decisions from the off season. I think the vestiges of that loyalty are playing out in the QB situation along with fear of the unknown in Hart

Help me understand. If Hart goes out and loses games, how are we any worse off than Reed going out and losing games?

Because we aren't serious program and haven't been for almost a century.

We are serious about showing the world how much money we have and how many stupid little "traditions" we have.

Obviously, we aren't.

But if he goes out and performs and we win a game or two, then elko's ego is worse off.

That's the real issue at stake here

CF is a business. It would be unwise to continue to act like the university who are trying to be sensitive to folks who act like they don't want to come here. That mentality is no longer needed.

We are a "Show Me the Money" team. No loyalties to any one. Big pay checks. You don't win you move on……

We are paying way too much money for a good coach. We want a coach who will sale his soul just long enough to go out on top.

That is all we are.

We're run like a poorly run business. Results don't seem to matter; they give you 50% too much time for mediocrity.

Messing up the 4th down play last week is a horrible sign for the OC.
