Y'all won't like this. And I'm ready to be fire roasted for it, but I don't care. We should have kept him and let it play out, especially since he was already paid. At least his QBs improved. And yes, Mond did improve.

I didn't want to fire Jimbo, mainly because the idea of paying someone $77mm not to coach is so distasteful to me. But I wanted to find an AD with balls enough to demand a real OC

He never hired a brand new inexperienced OC. And he developed Kellen. Elko wins enjoyed from a lot of Jimbos work.

Agreed. He was crushed by injuries and that hurt. I also believe if he let an o coord actually run the offense he would have done better.

Jimbo was 29-10 after 39 games as A&M's head coach

(then the problems started)

Elko has already lost 11 games in less than 3 seasons...with more to come in 2026

Elko is a defensive coach. The others mentioned are offensive guys with putrid offenses. If Elko could make a good hire on offense… things would be better. But Elko still has a decent defense.

No, they weren't.

Sumlin had massive discipline problems on the team and so did Jimbo. For crying' out loud players were smoking pot in a locker room after a road loss and JFF played a game drunk.

same result though....miscommunication and fumbled snap.

Jimbo had a delay of game on offense OR a TO b/c of a potential delay of game EVERY DAMNED WEEK b/c he could not get his Cheesecake Factory play sheet organized to get the damned play in on time.

If Jimbo would have hired a OC and given the same effort as he did 10 years earlier it could have been great. But aging coaches (not named Saban) always coast. He was coasting and yet to prideful to give up the offense.

Elko on the other hand will hire anyone in the locker room to coach.

Do you realize we had ONE good season in 6 years, and averaged 5 Losses per year in his other 5, usually with top-ten rated rosters?

Seriously, did you realize that before posting that drivel???
