I'm sorry but does anyone else get supremely annoyed by the weak, placating, and simply irrelevant questions the press lay up to Elko, completely ducking the elephant in the room questions about specifically what he and his coaches are doing on scheme and player PT decisions? I.E. the QB position and progress to achieve a completed pass of substance?

Clearly they were told what not to ask.

This is part of the culture problem we all pointed out as a culprit of our issue before. Still present as always.

Why would you subject yourself to them?

I can't help it. I know I should learn but I keep thinking someone will be sane and call this dumpster fire for what it is.

Chip Howard's "how important are turnovers?" was an instant classic.

I woulda respected Elko so much more if he had responded "well I don't know Chip...are you familiar w the game of football? Do you understand how its played? How important DO YOU think turnovers are??! Please stop w the waste of time questions "

Someone should ask, "why is Horton's effort so pathetic?"?

If there is another press corps, covering any other team, that asks weaker questions, I have never heard it.

Just curious, but what kind of questions has Sark been getting at his press conferences?

We are both on a similar path of underachieving mainly due to poor QB play.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian faced heavy questioning during his Monday news conference regarding quarterback Arch Manning's starting job, whether backup K.J. Lacey would get more reps, Manning's recent struggles and interceptions, and the outsized criticism driven by the Manning family name.

Elko likes this kind of question.

He gets snippy with uncomfortable questions.

He's been asked those questions and has repeatedly answered them.

no, I don't get butthurt when people who don't have real jobs get face time with guy that shouldn't have the job he has.

The first obstacle to what you would like to see is that a "reporters" job is not to hold people accountable, or make them uncomfortable, but to deliver a story to their boss. It's much easier to deliver stories if you have access to "news makers". Making someone uncomfortable risks losing access to that person. So, the path of least resistance is to simply get your quotes and write your story.

The second obstacle is that "news makers" have fully mastered the art of deflection and obfuscation. It doesn't matter what the question is, the response will bob, duck, and weave its way to reveal only what the respondent wants revealed.

This is as true in sports media as anywhere else.

Millionaires should have to answer the tough questions if they aren't producing a good product on the field.

Heavy questioning in Austin and heavy questioning in College Station are two entirely different beasts.

Yes. Ask him why we can't get to the quarterback? What are we doing to get home with the pass rush? IMO if we don't fix that problem we cannot win SEC games

I think OB did state it well, a press conference isn't meant to be a debate. There's a line to walk between good questions and just trying to be an a-hole reporter.

No head coach is going to answer questions publicly to the media about his offensive and defensive schemes.
