The only elite trait Reed has is his running and scrambling ability. The problem is if you lean into that too much you are likely playing the backup QB in short order. As an offensive coordinator how can you take advantage of what Reed does at an elite level and balance his limitations? I don't know, but I do know what we are doing is pretty much ***** Reed isn't bad, he is a good kid and great to root for. But to win a title you almost always need top QB play and I just don't think Reed is at that level.

I don't even thing his running/scrambling is elite. He has the athletic ability for it to be elite, but he has the same issues there that he does in the passing game: vision and decision-making.

Marcel struggles with throwing with anticipation as well. He has a tendency to wait until the receiver is wide open before releasing the ball. Makes everything a step behind in the passing game.

Again, where's the evidence? You dorks say this every week. And yet.. Reed still isn't injured.

Not to go Jimbo here, but it's sometimes hard to gauge the quality of the play call when the execution is crap.
OLine hasn't been consistent, Owens is "challenged", and Reed hasn't settled into any sort of rhythm.

When there are plays to be made, the call itself is fine. But the players still have to perform

KSU Fd us by hiring Klein allowing Elko to not have to do something drastic.

If you look at film of Reed the previous two years, the page has not turned; there is no new chapter.

We are running the same playbook based on the passing game.

They are trying to make Reed (I'm assuming to protect him) a pocket-only passer. Why on a roll out if he can't find an open receiver, they can't teach him to throw it away, run out of bounds, or run into the open space (avoid contact).

Maybe by doing this AND have him throw from the pocket it'll help get him into a rhythm.

So you expected Elko to go out and pay over 6 mil for Leavitt after Reed just went 11-2? Yes LSU is paying him 6 mil.

Leavitt was coming off an injury and he threw 3 interceptions yesterday Vs La Tech.

If you are not a Reed fan, so be it. But stating Elko should have went to the portal and buy Leavitt is stupid talk.

Reed is being coached to pass first, run last. It's not all on him to make the decision.

I agree that Mike Elko could have hired a good offensive coordinator from a Power 4 school instead of promoting a first-time offensive coordinator, but the o-line has struggled. Arizona State held a significant advantage in total offense, outgaining us 369-255. We won this game by 28 points because we scored 24 points off of 4 turnovers. Hopefully, our offense cleans things up in our first SEC game against Kentucky on Saturday.

I think it's way too early to possibly draw conclusions on how Wiggins is gonna work out play calling. Same could be said for Hemphill. There is no doubt that it's gonna be drastically different within the next 2 to 3 weeks depending on the development of our offensive line. You have to understand that we're running fairly vanilla for a reason.

I'm not gonna lie, I am a huge Elko fan and I believe he is super, highly intelligent. I think we have to give these hires a chance more than than the first couple games that are non-conference. I definitely am not ready to get on here and start bashing his decision as I fully believe it's still possible it can work out.

I think our biggest issue this year is just the timing of everything and how many offensive lineman we lost totaling five. I realized Nabou is a returner, but he is the only one and now we have to mix a match four pieces surrounding him to be a new five piece unit playing together as one and that's hard to do no matter what you plan. Even more so when you consider just the SEC and it's no joke. This is the Farm system or the Farm league for the NFL and the defenses were gonna face in SEC games this year it's gonna be incredibly difficult.

On the flipside, talking defense, we have a new DC that trust so therefore I will too, and give the benefit of the doubt. Here again we lost a lot of key pieces and we are trying to make a match the best we can and build depth and rotation as well. Again, very tough schedule this year lots of good offenses we're gonna face and offensive lines so we have to give it time to find out if this is gonna work.

That's my take. I am not ready to give up on outgoing his decisions this early in the season or act like I'm demanding change. I think we're gonna see more wrinkles added on both sides of the ball this weekend and even more wrinkles added on both sides of the ball the following weekend when we go to the Bayou. After that, it will be conference games late one week after another and I think we'll really start seeing the team and whether it's successful or no.

will turn out to be the worst decision Elko ever made. It will be his demise if he doesn't fix it.

Actually, he was just continuing the well-trodden Aggie path of Mediocrity. He himself had no HC experience other than 1 year at Duke (which doesn't count), and we hired him as HC, so why are you surprised we would take the next step and promote a man to OC that has Zero, Nada, Zilch, experience as an OC ? Just one more step toward year 87 of mediocrity.

Plenty to celebrate with 2 picks. I can't recall when I saw a pick like Julio Humphrey's on Saturday. Wasn't thrown to him, and he went up and took it.

Now, offense. Lots of teams have been reloading....even t.u. had some re-loading on the OL line, but these teams are looking way more gelled through 2 games than us. That's the concern.

I don't understand why Owens runs right into a pile. Is that play calling? Coaching? It's pretty obvious there aren't any holes to run through or are opening up and hope isn't a strategy. So, why aren't we running to the outside? Couldn't KJ or Carsyn do that?

Since I focus more on the line of scrimmage, I asked buddies (who were watching on TV), if the receivers were getting open...they mentioned that receivers couldn't get separation. Not sure if that's a factor of time or what...

So, yes, I want to enjoy the win, but like many, I'm in it for the long haul. I want a Natty. And I need to see this team look more like an OSU / t.u. type team and not the one on the field from Saturday....

For better or worse, Elko hitched his wagon to Reed and we're stuck with him for at least this year and probably next year as well.

The thing is, Reed wants to be a pocket passer, but we have continued OL issues. We also have a pretty stout RB crew, but OL issues are going to fubar that up too. I'm no Reed apologist, but I feel he gets an undue amount of grief on here.

Look like last years Texas team that didn't make the playoff or this years Texas team that has played 3 good quarters out of six?

My point isn't that tu is a bad team, I think they have a good team. My point is everyone is struggling with cohesion and execution this early in the season. We're one of about 20 teams whose season will be determined by how well the execution is refined.

I don't think anyone believes Dan Lanning is a poor HC, but look how Oregon is struggling early.

The pace of play on offense is irritating. If you have a couple of successfully plays speed things up and feed your best player. Marcel seems to look for Horton first no matter what. I saw Craver visibly annoyed that Marcel didn't even look his way when he was open for a td, but instead forces an uncatchable ball to Horton in the corner.
