Texas 8&4

And this horse**** attitude from our own fans is also below SEC average.

its not a horse**** attitude when its backed up hard by stats. Here's the last 25 seasons.

2025: 11-2
2024: 8-5
2023: 7-6
2022: 5-7
2021: 8-4
2020: 9-1
2019: 8-5
2018: 9-4
2017: 7-6
2016: 8-5
2015: 8-5
2014: 8-5
2013: 9-4
2012: 11-2
2011: 7-6
2010: 9-4
2009: 6-7
2008: 4-8
2007: 7-6
2006: 9-4
2005: 5-6
2004: 7-5
2003: 4-8
2002: 6-6
2001: 8-4
2000: 7-5
1999: 8-4

Every time we significantly exceeded our median (2012, 2020, 2025), we rushed out and signed the coach to a big extension. And the last two times it was immediately followed by an 8&4 season. Be angry if you want, but the rational fan has come to expect it.

I know it is an obvious statement but I have no idea how good our conditioning is. In MHO, while strength training is important, I would argue that our conditioning done by tons and tons of running is more important. I do believe Ohio State ran out of breath because they were not that well aerobically. Imagine a noon kickoff in early September in Central Texas! You can't completely be exhausted and expect to win consistently against good opponents.

While the horns did an amazing comeback, Ohio State looked exhausted while the horns seemed to get a boost of energy especially in the fourth quarter. If the horns play like they did in the first half they will lose several games.

So Mike what do you think of long distance running especially on both front lines? More important than strength training?
Keep syncing up FB team. We can become elite and a dynasty will start!

Avg to Above avg:
- DE depth (not impactful pass rush skills)
- WR depth
- Quality of freshmen RBs
- DB depth (not high end talent, though Ricks is borderline)
- Ray Coney (probably best player on the defense)
- OTs are fine

Below avg:
- Safety speed (Brooks and Ratcliffe have good instincts and play the scheme well, but good laud they slow)
- Running back play from the guys playing meaningful snaps
- CB #2 speed. Humphrey made a hell of a play on the slip screen, but him and Gibson look painfully slow
- QB. Reed is about the median, to just below, SEC qb. I'd take the following over him (not a ranked order): 1. Leavitt (yes, yes three picks vs La Tech), 2. Kamario Taylor, 3. Kaelon Russell, 4. Faison Brandon, 5. Chambliss, 6. Manning, 7. Stockton, 8. Sellers. Question for me is whether I'd prefer mister YOLO Austin Simmons.
- OG. They bad.

The people on here that defend mediocrity because they can't admit they have a TA kool-aid problem......hilarious.

We are who we are until we prove we are not. When we string together a decade of 10+ win seasons like Ohio State or UGA do, we can think about arguing otherwise.

What is the point of posts like this? Do you want everyone to share your dim view of the team? Would that make you happy? Should we all just be miserable until we pull off that decade of 10 win seasons you mentioned?

You understand that we don't actually have any impact on the game, right? What exactly is it about "defending mediocrity" that bothers you so much? I understand being critical of the team but these posts are weird.

It's out of frustration. Football doesn't impact my life and I don't give a penny back to the school. But I know there is no shortage of money, facilities, talent, etc. I would argue we have more than most other teams. Yet, we can't string together a winning program for reasons that are completely foreign to me.

So only two teams are good enough by your standards? I don't think the zoo knows what "average" means.

The zoo is always miserable after a win. Such great "fans".

Not miserable, but not a sunshine pumper. Been actively following the Ags for 55+ years. Overall, we have been mediocre in that time, a few good stretches, a few bad stretches, but mostly 6-6 to 8-4. In the last 25 yrs, we only got 7 seasons of 9 wins or more. I don't like it but we are the definition of mediocre, especially when you factor in the 2-3 buy a win games each year. If we get to where consistently winning 9 games is a disappointment, and we run off a Mark Richt type, then maybe we would have arrived. But we need to remember that Nebraska fired meathead, and haven't been the same since.

It's a small thing but our gunner on punt coverage is lethal. Excellent speed.
