Place kicker, maybe?

QB, WR play, TE play, OL, RB, DL, LB, DB all no IMO. All squarely in the average (or worse) grouping.

In what world is our QB play average? Along with several other of those position groups.

Both Tackles - Adams and Formby are better than SEC avg. Horton is top tier. The back up TE, Anderson is good. Bussey and Craver as slot receivers are above avg.

RB is definitely below avg. but that could be due to the lack of blocking in the interior. Gotta go with the two Frosh Backs and take your chances.

On D- Saka, Jones, Ricks, and #19 should be starting.

Kicker is top tier

Nope the horse**** attitude is way above average.

Defense and every position on defense has a chance to be above average. Elite even. One of the best in the country.

DL:
Jones is a future 1st rounder
Saka and Searcy both look good
Henderson and Mpemba and other depth

LB:
Mikhail is special
Coney has a high ceiling

DB:
Lots of experience with our top guys
Couple high end youngsters like Currie/Arrington behind them

Biggest issues last year were inability to stop the run and lack of turnovers forced. Already forcing turnovers

Special teams has the talent to be above average on every team

Everything about this season comes down to the offense. An offense that likely has above average WR's and "?" everywhere else

AI says:

The A&M Wide Receiver Corps is widely considered one of the best in the SEC and is the most game-ready position group for Texas A&M football heading into the 2026 season.

Why the Wide Receivers Stand Out
  • Top-End Talent: Returners like Mario Craver and explosive playmaker Terry Bussey provide elite speed and big-play ability down the field.
  • Impact Transfers: The addition of standout playmaker Isaiah Horton brings a premier red-zone threat that elevates the entire unit's depth and diversity of skill sets

We are who we are until we prove we are not. When we string together a decade of 10+ win seasons like Ohio State or UGA do, we can think about arguing otherwise.

DL, DBs, WRers, RBs, PM, punter are all better than SEC average

OL probably average; may put LBs here too at this point

QB below average (and this is obviously the issue)

What is the point of posts like this? Do you want everyone to share your dim view of the team? Would that make you happy? Should we all just be miserable until we pull off that decade of 10 win seasons you mentioned?

You understand that we don't actually have any impact on the game, right? What exactly is it about "defending mediocrity" that bothers you so much? I understand being critical of the team but these posts are weird.

My Ai says this as well

Defense: above SEC average
Turnover creation: significantly above SEC average
Special/defensive scoring: significantly above average
Running game: roughly average / still uncertain
Passing offense: roughly average
Overall offensive efficiency: probably below what their 49 PPG suggests

That last point definitely seems true so far considering the defense is responsible for 7 ppg.
