I was a BQ and the OP's concept is ridiculous . I did it because I wanted to , no other reason was needed. Football produces tremendous interest and revenue , marching bands don't.

It's "Corps". With an "s". If you care so much, learn to spell it correctly.
They're members of an ROTC program. Even as a D&C cadet, they're still participating in ROTC at a certain level.
That's why they wear a uniform. Sorry you can't see the difference and relevance of that to a 9/11 memorial compared to a blue t-shirt.

Band members can get NIL money from being the "Before" guy in "Before and After" diet ads. Hope that helps.

What product should the Basses do a commercial for where they just turn sharply ?

Maybe a local car dealership has a line of basses marching at a car. Both turn sharply right at the end and avoid hitting each other.

The sip band had been awarding scholarships since the 60's, and I'm sure that other universities do too.

Yeah but those other places have music degrees . We don't. So at least some of the scholarships granted to band members at those other places are to attract the best music students they can get. So those are more like academic scholarships as opposed to scholarships for being in the marching band.

Having said that I'm not opposed to Fightin' Texas Aggie Band Members getting scholarships based on whatever merits they have to get them but getting paid to be in the band, that's something different imo.

Where do I send my $20 NIL money for the band? That will go to all of the tubas.

I traveled 2,000 last week to watch the Ags play Missouri STATE …and see the band. I would not have traveled if the football team wasn't playing.

In my section Saturday a family shuffled in at half, watched the band performance and quietly and politely left after the band finished. Seems crazy, but they probably left more satisfied than I did and they didn't risk suffering heat stroke.

Yah, your problem is that the mass of people that can (poorly) play the French-horn and march around Kyle is vastly larger than the handful of people that can play left tackle in the sec effectively.

Also you get free seats, and you signed up for exactly what you got.

I mean with NIL there's literally nothing stopping a band member from being paid because NIL doesn't just apply to student athletes you know? And in fact, there are some instances as others have already pointed out where band members are indeed paid to be in the band. So don't know what you're complaining about unless you think it should be mandated that all college band members get paid. You simply let the free market decide what value each individual college band member is worth.... and currently that worth is simply free access to football games and all-expense paid trips for away games.

The only case where a band member technically got paid was when Tommy Lee got paid when he was part of the Nebraska band.

If Texas A&M, Incorporated, and the Texas A&M Athletics Department would just pay The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band members for their dedicated service to the University and the Athletics Department, then bad things would stop happening to the Texas Aggies Football Team.
