The system is becoming a joke.

Becoming?

College football as we knew it died a number of years ago. For me, I think that moment was when players started opting out of bowl games. Everything since then has just been a nonstop escalation of ridiculousness.

What did you expect when many decades ago the experts (like Pete and Dan) started scoffing at and diminishing the term student athlete and influencing the powers to be that these kids deserved to get paid because after all they really are hired professionals.

Reap what you sow! I have no sympathy for the Presidents, ADs, and commissioners who are now begging and pleading for help to fix the problems they created because they listened to all the wrong people. And I sure don't support the federal government getting involved! Just plain stupid, I don't care how educated they are.

Kidding aside, judges are given WAY too much power.

That's crazy. The Browns are so bad that judges are making the Rams give Myles back to A&M.

Can you explain this?

Paying players came from Courts ruling on antitrust litigation and state legislatures passing laws that forbade their schools from not allowing NIL.

Who were the "right" people that administrators should/could have listened to that would have prevented where we are now?

What I've learned over the past 10 years is nobody has a crystal ball that will tell us how all of this ends. Nobody predicted 10 years ago what we are seeing today. I just hope college football survives in a form that retains the enjoyment and enthusiasm of the past.

Its clearly time to blow up the so called college system and let the NFL run it, the farcical of saying amateurism of college football.

Uh, I think a lot of us knew this would be the progression or at least something similar to it.

I can't believe no one warned us that this would happen.

States did it not courts only. Including Texas, btw.

judges in general have decided to move way beyond their original intent and too many make decisions in favor of players even to the point of benefitting their home teams with weak TROs

I absolutely hate this ruling. It is pathetic and I hope it gets thrown out on appeal.

It was inevitable with the under-the-table methods that the so-called bluebloods got away with for decades…just natural evolution and it is still evolving

It feels like NFL is starting to put its weight on college system, it really is the lifeblood of the NFL and they see the college system not managing its product or system.

Call me crazy, but I actually look forward to the on-going 'laws of unintended consequences' that keep happening. All the changes and overhauls and loopholes that players keep finding to exploit their eligibility blow my mind. Going to get crazier before it gets better! Looking forward to what happens next!

The only thing left is for a judge to rule that a player does not have to enroll at the school or take classes in order to be on the team. Then, we are truly done with college athletics.

it will take a very strong school to refuse that opportunity, and it won't be us. We've got too much tied up in it, like a gigantic stadium and facilities, to ever break from the madding crowd on this one.

The returning players never signed a contract, right?

Moss did sign a contract and for that reason was denied.

Louisiana has a history of judges ruling against the NCAA. The attorneys knew to take this to Louisiana.

Wow, I'm surprised no one one this thread has been clamoring for JFF to come back yet, lol.
