We also travel to Arizona in the non-conference, and play UGA, Texas, LSU, Mizzou, Ole Miss, and Auburn in conference.

Why on earth would we give Tech a game?

We don't need resume boosters, they do.

But they run with it online like we are scared, which I believe is absolutely not the case. There is just no incentive for us to do this.

That's fine, nobody is obligated to play Tech OOC, but OP is coming in hot accusing McGuire of making stuff up, which I kind of doubt. I'm sure Tech would like to play us, and don't have much reason to doubt they've reached out.

Article is paywalled; this a case where he's griping that they couldn't schedule us for 2027, rather than just any time in the indefinite future? If so then yes, that's lame to even publicly gripe about.

With 9 SEC games there is no benefit to playing a non-conference opponent that has a decent chance to beat you. The 3 non-conference games need to have a win chance of +75%.

I actually wouldn't mind a home and home with them, or other former Texas SWC schools (TCU, Houston, etc.), but these things are scheduled years in advance.

But to drop this on us with 1 year's notice (requiring us to break other commitments) and at a neutral site is ridiculous. And then to start some online jihad to paint us as afraid to play them is pathetic.

Sorry guys, it's not up to us to fix your garbage schedule or to help make you relevant.

Asshats want to try and compete immediately while they still have talent that their program has never had before. They know once the NIL bill passes their time in the sun will be over shortly after.

Nobody is going to move mountains to schedule them, especially when they know that in 3 years they'll go back to being an easy win

This was such an underreported story at the time. After t.u. begged A&M not to leave the Big 12, Daddy DeLoss got his little feelings hurt and threatened all Men's & Women's schools if they played A&M in anything. If you'll recall, it did not happen until after that blowhard retired. What a pansy.

The amount of stupid takes on twitter around this is astounding - even for CFB twitter.

As TT has made their summer campaign "no one will schedule us" - not one single writer has asked why they are only now trying to schedule someone.

They lost to NC State in 2022 and Oregon in 2023.

They intentionally scheduled the absolute bottom of P4 in WSU (L) in 2024 and Oregon State (W) in 2025 and 2026. They aren't even P4 any more.

Most everyone else in CFB has already scheduled teams in 2027-8 and some into 2030 - including the B12. But Tech can't figure it out and whines because no one will change their schedule for them last minute.

For example:
Houston: 2027 - LSU, 2028 - OU, 2030 &31 - Boise
BYU: 2026-7 - Notre Dame, 28-29 - Boston College, 30 - VT, 31 - SMU
Baylor: 26 - Auburn, 27-28 - Maryland
