If we're being honest, it's really difficult listening to these two try to have a debate on that podcast. Atwell is constantly trying to find gotchas and use terms like "gaslighting" to prove her points. It's not a good energy. It's exhausting and just a very hard listen all the way around. I hide these clips when they show up on X.

I'll listen to Billy and Nuno debate any day.

I think my rub, and others possible, who find it harder to watch, is it seems like Amanda takes it more seriously than you do. You know her better than us so correct me if im off, but it just makes it hard to listen to her when she throws some of these buzz words at you and digs her heels in, when you're very much focused on a general discussion. Then again if we can actually deliver and beat Texas this year, I'm sure that will change her tune!

Appreciate the feedback. While I don't think her taking it seriously is a bad thing, she does tend to dig her heels in when we're debating some of it. I need to do a better job of not letting her dig in I guess. Will be a lot easier once the season starts and the hypotheticals and pre-season hype is gone.

Like many fans, she thinks stats are the end all be all. People with that world view think stats are inarguable

Take completion percentage. Many tie that directly to QB play. Other factors make an impact like pass pro, WRs that can get open, not to mention play calls. Dink and dunk passes give higher completion percentages just because of the ease of the throw.


Even a teams defense might impact completion percentage by forcing more risk to stay in the game.

Stats can offer insight but not without zooming out and looking at the bigger picture imo

Yea better way of saying what I was getting at. Idec as much that she holds stats to such a high regard. It's more so her attitude can come off as " I won't move on until you admit my opinion is the correct one". I think she takes the name of the podcast too seriously lol.

I think her worldview on stats is common, you might even say average

I couldn't even count the number of times I've been in a football discussion and it turns out the person I'm talking with thinks completion percentage = QB accuracy. Sure, accuracy is in there but buried in with a lot of other factors too.


The problem with talking to a pure stats person is they offer hard numbers which are quick and easy. Getting them to zoom out and look at the bigger picture is easier said than done, plus much more time consuming than their pure statistical regurgitation worldview

Couldn't agree more, "Stats are like bikinis, they show alot but not everything." is how I've always looked at stats and I'm not sure who I stole that quote from but read it somewhere years ago.

This is a small sample of what I'm talking about.
Immediately equates to Arch and turns into a gotcha which was clearly not Liucci's intent in the point he was making. It was never about a comparison between QBs. And a comparison would be fine, but instead Atwell turns it into a smug gotcha.
I wouldn't find this watchable even if it were the other way around. Incredibly offputting energy.

I actually think that exchange was lighthearted and not intended to be anything but funny, good-natured rivalry **** talking.

Hopefully I'm right, bc those numbers - and the context is left out here which are Arch's struggles vs lesser teams - and Marcel beating two top-10 teams is accurate, I think we're talking about a QB that takes the Aggies to back to back playoffs.

Maybe she's worn me down, but I think that exchange was harmless and more comedy than anything else.

Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but I don't think the issue is that people are opposed to rivalry banter or even sh** talking. It's what we all do frankly.

The problem is that Amanda is just not a likeable person and seems to take the wrong tone in almost all of your conversations. I think many in the media are very good at this type of dialogue (we see it all the time from SEC Network folks, other online media, etc) but she has a strange smugness that make it hard to enjoy in any way.

I don't have any problem saying Texas beat us, outplayed us, and outcoached us (and frankly has just been the better program) the last 2-3 years, but it's not enjoyable media when she won't even debate in good faith on topics that are relevant.

It's easy to say "just don't watch it" (which i don't), but clips from the podcast show up on my X.com timeline all the time and pretty much all of it is negative on A&M.

Just my $0.02 - if other people enjoy it, great for them
