I guess it's still somewhat important, and I definitely think the "culture" that Elko has developed is a big factor in recruits getting positive vibes about what's happening inside the football program, but ultimately, since we are top 5 in NIL money, then I would expect we are going to get top 5 level talent. And Elko has shown he has a knack for picking the right guys to go after.

Whichever guy has been recruiting Georgia and Florida the last 2 years is the best recruiter. Whoever it is has been killing it.

Let's not forget just this last year's NFL draft.

When you put 10 kids into the NFL - and not all of them were starters for us - that says something....

Imagine if we just paid Sherman to evaluate offensive talent.

This might be the most well-rounded and talented recruiting staff the program has put together.

Trooper Taylor is far and away the best recruiter on this staff. Not knocking the rest of this talented staff but Trooper is the straw that stirs this juggernaut recruiting cocktail.

It's funny how the schools with the most money have the top "recruiters".

However, Georgia is not the biggest spender yet their classes since the beginning of NIL are consistently better than the biggest spenders. Coaching consistency, on field results, and a reputation of developing guys to get to the NFL matter the same as they always have.

The state of Georgia also produces a disproportionately large number of blue chip recruits for its size and UGA has no real in-state competition for those players which works to their advantage.

Three thoughts:
1). The vast majority of UGA's roster year after year are not from Georgia. One could easily go class by class but let's take the 2024 class which ranked 1. UGA took 30, only 9 of those 30 were from Georgia and the majority of the recruits from Georgia were 3 stars who don't play.

2.). If Georgia produces so much talent with no real competition, why did Mark Richt, Jim Donna and Ray Goff not have nearly the success as Kirby Smart?

3.). Georgia actually has and always has had a ton of competition for talent from Georgia. Kids in Georgia have never looked at UGA the same way kids in Louisiana look at LSU. Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State(back in the day), and even Georgia Tech have never had an ounce of push back recruiting Georgia high school talent. Heck, before Kirby Smart arrived, Georgia Tech was the most recent school from Georgia to win a national championship.
