Both A&M and Texas require 60 hours in residency to earn a degree…can't transfer in everything but your last year, etc. Apparently Sark claims that's what Ol Miss is doing. Not sure why it matters - you would hope any transfer in is looking to go to the league with or without a diploma.

I work for Texas A&M. Some majors here require at minimum 36 hours of residency (although other majors may require 60). I believe you have to have at least 60 hours here to graduate with honors.

However, there is an NCAA rule that states that for whatever class year you are, you have to have a certain number of hours counting toward your degree plan to remain eligible. With the transfer portal, some schools will have to transfer in a lot of courses (even if it's more than 50%) and have those courses count toward the degree plan for that player to remain eligible. I have a hard time believing that tu doesn't accept more than 50% of transfer courses. I confess I don't know what the percentage is for a student athlete to remain eligible, but I know that rule exists.
