A&M Has a Better WR group according to the NFL draft

One the reasons KC has slipped in the draft is due to his lack 50-50 ball catches, and size.
Nothing against KC he was a huge contributor but with Craver still on the roster with Horton, the WR weapons are better.

Craver was better at contested catches and low throws than Conception.
Horton has a bigger body and should increase the 50-50 percentage of catches.
ABR and Bussey bring the speed.

A slight completion improvement of 50/50 and low throws will boost Marcel Reed and make this team harder to defend than last year.

I look for Wiggins to be better at leveraging the talent than Colonel Klein.

KC is really good at getting open. He is quick, pretty fast and has great power for a WR. He will be missed next year. KC was like ABR and Bussey combined.

If Horton out produces KC then we will have another great season. Big shoes to fill.

Yeah, not replacing KC with anyone. Keep dreaming

punt returns are very important

that's what made K.C. the first real replacement for Kirk -- 8 years later

Horton could have a more "impactful" season than KC, but i can guarantee you that his counting stats won't be higher. The receiver room is too deep this year for him to have massive production, and all the talk from the coaching staff has been over his situational usage. Craver and ABR will likely have more yards than him

KC got open which is something most of our receivers have not been able to do since joining the SEC.

He also was surprisingly tough after the catch. I would not expect our current WR group to get open like KC did... hopefully they prove me wrong.

So much this. Our WR route running prior to KC had been subpar for a long time.

One of the major reasons KCs stock dropped was due to his high drop percentage.

"Drops were a massive issue, with a concerning 10.3 percent drop rate in 2025 (19 career drops over three college seasons)"

I always like to remember that as good as KC was last year, his stats are short about 6 tds and 500 yards from Marcel overthrowing him . He truly was a monster and will be hard to replicate . No hate to Marcel I love Marcel

But Marcel needs to be better for us to really compete for a championship.

KC is probably a first round pick. None of those guys but Horton has a chance to go that high. Let's hope Horton is as good as can be, maybe that will offset the KC loss.

I don't understand the post title. How does the draft say we have a better WR group this year? I hope so. I hope guys like ABR take the next step and Craver does to. And I hope Horton becomes elite. People keep building up Horton but he's all potential now. At Miami & 'bama, he was the 3rd leading receiver. KC had a LOT more hype coming into A&M than Horton does in terms of national experts. Maybe Horton will turn out to be that guy. But he hasn't shown it yet.

He's not. He's a good instinctual runner and has good power for size, but has very stiff hips.

KC had two incredible catches against ND late in the 2nd Q. One he was wide open and Marcel threw high and he went way up top to snag it. Then the next play I believe was the deep ball down the sideline that he went over 2 defenders to bring in and was inches short of the goal line. KC had several catches where he went up over a bigger DB to bring a ball in. He can make contested catches that you wouldn't think he would be able to bring in

Take out the acrobatic catches from our crew in 2025 and our QB hits receivers around 55%. Have to bump that up by at least 8-10% if we want to win in December and January.

To say we're better off without KC is drinking the koolaid hard! I love our WR room and think we have the potential to top what we did last year, but come on we're talking about a game changer, those are hard to replace.

But good ones hit their receivers >55% of the time.

KC created separation
KC caught the ball
KC turned up the field with violent speed after every catch

We rarely have seen this from an Aggie receiver. He is a special player and was a HUGE big part of 2025 season

It's took miraculous catches on a weekly basis just to get to 62%, that alone is a testament to just how good our WR group is. I think he had the lowest completion % in the CFP. And he had one of the lowest on target % in all of college football. He has a lot to improve on.

Nobody is talking about drops? Explain? Add the 17 drops to his competition percentage and tell me what you get. Yes this is dad, I'm not mad even I know he has to improve, let's remember it was his first full time year as a starter, and he was a major part of 11 wins. Let's see what happens next. Respond If you want, I more than likely won't respond. Have a good day, and there may have been more than 17, but our great group of receiver's made him look good at times, as all college receivers do if they are any good!

Good post and thanks for posting! The drops do even things out a bit, drops can definitely hinder rhythm for QBs. I think we all agree accuracy can improve and it will with experience and comfortability at this level. I am excited to see what Marcel looks like with another year of experience and what I believe will be a much more QB friendly offense. Some easier throws where space can get created by design vs what Jimbo and Klein did which was "beat your man and Marcel has to make a perfect throw." Also excited to see him be on the move and use his athleticism.

Marcel is a heck of a leader and rep for the program & school. Hats off to you and mom.

Bussey was our #1 kick returner and #2 punt returner (behind KC) last year, and ran a 10.6 100m in HS. But yeah, he's not very quick and has very stiff hips.

I mean, look. We're gonna have to re-create him in the aggregate. Let's start with Hatteberg. His biggest fear is a football being thrown in his general direction, but Wash told me that it will be incredibly hard to teach him the position. So, we got this.
