I'm sure his recruitment has picked up, but has anyone seen this.

I am sure your son is a fine boy, Mrs. McBean.
10.6 is a really good time. At 210 lbs, it's flat out booking it, and he has another year to improve. Hopefully he has the sense to leave the West Coast.
Little higher caliber schools recruiting as well.LAAG said:

His current college list on 247 is New Mexico, Sand Diego St., Dartmouth and Sacramento St. May have to go show out there for a year before the SEC comes calling.

Straight line speed is great. Just generally not as important as lateral quickness, burst, being patient, and making LB miss in the hole.
And then there is pass pro and catch swing / wheel routes.
Rueben Owens is an example. Very fast (10.68 in the 100) but lacks the quick lateral movement, momentum change and then burst. Achane had it, and was amazing at turning his body sideways to fit through tight spaces. His awareness of space is second to none. Big part of why he has made an elite pro too.jamey said:AgLA06 said:

Agreed. And superior straight line speed, particularly in taller athletes usually indicates poor lateral movement
The exceptions are rare. Achane for example was short, so not an exception
