Texas A&M adds former Tennessee CB Rickey Gibson III via transfer portal
The Aggies have made another addition to their 2026 roster today via the transfer portal with the commitment of former Tennessee CB Rickey Gibson III.
The 6-foot, 185-pound native of Trussville, Ala., is the 13th pledge for Mike Elko in this January window.
Unfortunately, Gibson only played 19 snaps in the 2025 season after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 1. However, he gained a reputation as one of the more reliable cover men in the SEC with a very strong 2024 campaign that saw him start all 12 games and record 32 tackles with two tackles for loss and force a fumble. He also broke up five passes. As a freshman in 2023, he appeared in all 13 games for the Volunteers, mostly on special teams and as a reserve defensive back.
He’ll be expected to come into A&M and compete for a starting role opposite Dezz Ricks.
