It entirely depends on which reed showed up. If the reed in the Auburn game showed up they would have trounced our ass.

Even Weigman tore it up yesterday against a common opponent (LSU). Compare his LSU stats to Reed's and it isn't even close. For some reason our QB's don't seem to progress much lately.

Yes. King and Weigman were damaged, confused head cases with bad decision-making and mechanics but if we'd just been nicer to them and said "please" and "thank you" they would have both miraculously healed and been overjoyed to keep playing for A&M. But we didn't. That's why we're the only school that ever loses quarterbacks to the portal.

Thats not even mentioning Murray and Kyle Allen. Say what you will about Allen but he has 19 NFL starts.

Weigman is not better than Reed. I love Weigman and wanted badly for him to succeed, but he flat got beat out. There's no debating this. He was out of shape and lost his confidence.

He was good but not great at UH, in a very weak conference. He benefitted from a change of scenery but there was absolutely no way he could have stayed at A&M this year. He would not have played at all.

Tore it up? Jeez dude, UH won by 3 in a home game against a depleted LSU with an interim skeleton crew coaching staff.

We won a completely different type of game in BR at night and nearly hung 50 on LSU.

Simply comparing stats is stupid.

Yes, tore it up when it comes to QB play.

Despite the fact that he cannot hit the broadside of a barn. Especially when the pressure is on. Time to go to the portal. It's a pro sport now. No loyalty on either side.

I know a guy whose kids went to high school with Reed. He flipped from Ole Miss when the Ags offered more cash. If a better QB can be brought in, that should be done.

Remember, King played like dog**** and lost to App State, at Kyle. Nobody survives that.

Not Playing:
Delane (CB)
Perkins (LB)
Haulcy (S)
Foster (CB)
Both Weeks (LB)
Pyburn (DE)

One game a conference game at Death Valley and the other a meaningless bowl in Houston. Want to look at 2024 LSU game stats?

He doesn't. He also doesn't want to compare QBR or lifetime stats for Reed vs Weigman at A&M. Without looking, I think Weigman had one 300 yard passing game overall at A&M, no 100 yard rushing games, and was pretty terrible last year before getting straight up beat out by Reed.

Keep in mind, I like Weigman. I think he's a good kid, played at Bridgeland where my daughter went, and he's well regarded. But he simply failed to live up to expectations at A&M. He mostly thrived in a weaker conference this year, but was bad in UH's losses.

I hate defending Reed this strongly because he was the sole reason we lost against Miami - it was not poor play calling. I think we should upgrade at QB through the portal. But to say Weigman and King are better is foolish. They both failed here.

I thought we could make it through he holidays without someone referencing Haynes King as someone who would have outplayed Reed. I thought surely even The Zoo would know better than that, but here we are.

It's just a revealingly ignorant thing to think.

King has had a decent (and fun) season, but let's be honest about what GT is doing here. They're running a one-read QB system where he looks for one target on passing plays. If that target is unavailable, he takes off on a QB run. It's an offense that accentuates on King's athletic abilities and concedes that he is TERRIBLE (and I mean abysmally bad) at finding open receivers. It's effective at defeating weaker and less athletic opponents but has a very low ceiling. Any time GT faced a competent opponent, its offense struggled to move the ball.

King's problem at A&M - which was still his issue at GT - is that he cannot work through progressions to find open receivers. As a result, he is horrifically turnover prone.

People can say what they want about Reed given how the season ended, but thinking King would have taken us further is brainrot.

Reed is capable of losing to anyone. His performance against Miami and Texas totally changed the perception of him as qb for me. I don't think he's that talented against anything but lesser teams. He **** down his leg in Austin and against Miami.

What if Miami and Texas were just better overall teams at this point of the season? Or at least better in the trenches during each respective game? The sips special teams definitely out-performed ours, leading to noticeable differences in field positions

JPN06 is the typical texags moron. Hates the QB until they leave then strokes them off every pass they complete for another team.

Klein would've tried to make him a pocket passer. He would've had half of his rushing yards here at the most. Klein doesn't know how to cater to a QBs strengths while diminishing weaknesses.

Except he played in the SEC, and this entire board wanted him expelled from the university they hated him so much. He has moderate success in by far the worst P4 league that needed a miracle to have a non-champion in the playoff, and now he's all the sudden great again.

I was always a King fan. But the offense GT employed would have been shut down in the SEC. And while he's gritty, he's not Johnny. Hes not the "complete a miracle play when an SEC d-lineman is barreling down on you" type.
