Our QB badly under preformed in the 2 most important games

I sometimes forget how many years it's been since we went a complete year without our QB1 going down with an injury. It's unusual for us, and for a lot of teams. I hope we can keep O-Niel and Hart on the team. We may not be so fortunate next year.

Casuga has better technical and physical skills than Reed, right now. That said, I saw St. Francis make Casuga look JV, and expect he needs at least a year of seasoning before being an even mediocre SEC qb.

I've been a Reed critic from day one, and still firmly believe you can't compete fr a championship with him as a starter, but ifA&M is significantly better at qb next year it's bc Reed noticeably improves (ie drops the delusion that he's an NFL starter) or a transfer.

Agreed w/ Marcel Reed having potential: our OC did not do him favors as not utilizing him more as dual threat nor helping Reed's throwing mechanics. That said, the QBs Coach (and likely assistant OC) will be a VERY important hire for Elko, as I'm not sure what to think of Wiggins as OC. Reed needs some work in 2026 offseason and backup QBs need to also be prepped if Reed struggles in '26 season.

Dude was beyond awful. Couldn't complete a pass against OU.

Marcel from the outside in seems a very high character leader, however if you are consistently off your mark and especially behind a receiver who is 1 yard ahead of the defender and you throw it behind it means a lot of INTs.

If the true freshman gets playing time you can add several losses in there next year. Screwed either way unless we get the very best QB in the portal just like we did at WR last year.

Casita is way overrated. Doesn't anyone remember Braunny went to watch him play earlier this season he threw 5 ints and a fumble. I'm going to tap the brakes on this kid, as awful as Reed was he's way better than this kid.

Similar tools outside of being 3-4 inches shorter and 20-30 lbs lighter. Reed is the son of a coach and has QB coaching year round for years at this point. Expecting some huge leap in fundamentals is a big stretch.

That was his second start as a true freshman and his first road start against a really good defense. Not surprising he played poorly.

But there's a reason why he's expected to go to the NFL and why he's making $4 mil per year now. LSU is probably going to try to get him.

I know it's not the majority of this site that says it but it's still a great tradition. Heard it about our last 2 fish, not to mention King and Wig.

Hasn't Myles had like 3 season ending injuries in a row? Will he actually play for us?

Why do we recruit and sign highly rated prospects if we're going to immediately look to the portal if we sense a problem? Shouldn't we be asking "who's up next" first? And if the guys who are already in the stable aren't ready, then why not?

I understand that somebody proven might be a more attractive look, but how many of those guys are really out there, and does Elko seem like a guy who is going to go QB-hunting in the portal?

Reed...I'm torn on....I definitely saw improvement making reads over last season. But by the end of the season saw the same happy feet leading to inaccurate throws and picks. Heck, go back the first 4-5 games and how many throws we got lucky were dropped int's.

With that said, as skinny as he is he stayed upright (until the last 2 games) and healthy. AVAILABLE is one of the best abilities

I'm not convinced there is just some guarantee'd guy you can go get that easy. Everyone else will want them too. The closest I've seen is maybe the Cincy QB.

Then that brings the next question, how much are you willing to put into one kids hands? If we're spending $30M in NIL and are in the top 10 in that regard allocating over 10% of your money to one player is risky. You could likely go find 2 decent candidates and pay them $2M each. If you're good at evaluating then you'll likely hit on one of the two.

If I'm Reed I am definitely asking for more money...they'd be fools not to. And I get that $4M is much bigger than $2M.....but still $2M is life changing money for anyone especially kids that age. They also have the long game to think about as he only has 1, max 2 more years in college before he's forced to make money in the NFL.

Best way to max the money long term....take $2M from A&M and tell them to spend the other $2M on OL and RB's. A run game is a QBs best friend. If you notice when Reed passed his best was when we had clearly established a run game and he was comfortable. That and getting him out of the pocket.

Get him a run game (every QB would benefit). His stats look better and his NFL prospects do too.

Reed's regression at the end of the season SHOULD be enough for us to pursue a portal QB. But sadly, we won't.

To be fair, none of our backups could have scored less against Miami

Reed will have to deal with a much more formidable schedule next year so he's going to have to really take a step forward and hopefully the new OC has a scheme that suits him better

The reason our program has been garbage for the better part of a century is our "nice" fanbase not putting pressure on the leadership and largely being ok with bad to mediocre results.

We are a top 5 school in resources. We should expect to have a top 5-10 qb in the nation. Not top 30 to 50. Definitely not a qb who turns it over 8 times in the biggest 3 games of the season.

If you don't perform, move on, Thank you for your service. Next man up. There is zero reason to tolerate mediocrity in this day and age.

I completely agree and I hope we are not in the minority. I too felt the Jayden Daniels comp coming into this year was fitting. The reports of him being out partying in the days leading up to the game, if true, are really disheartening for me. But you are 100% right about his progression, he clearly took last offseason seriously. I hope he hears the hate coming from Texas A&M fans and it fuels him to reach a different level next season.

I would not count out Brady Hart who is slight of frame but can really sling it. I could see Hart winning out over Casuga early on due to Casuga's youth. I agree HC is our quarterback of the future, though.

Some of us have been saying it long before now.

If Reed doesn't finish the season as the starter then things completely fell apart. 1st half of our season next it pretty damn easy, should be no worse than 5-2. Not sure at what point you think he will be benched.

Here's the thing… Marcel had a full season with two of the most talented receivers we've ever had and we couldn't win a playoff game. If you're okay with just making the CFP, then go with Reed and don't complain when we go 8-4 next year. If you want to invest in winning it all, you have to try something new against a known commodity.

5 of the 7 sacks were basically his fault. He walked right into pressure. Dude has zero pocket awareness. Our OL actually held up fine for the most part against their outstanding DL.
