I mean I know it won't happen but in some seriousness, they are currently under probation until 2027 for all the crap under Harbaugh and recent recruiting violations.

They imposed the rule and stated SMU had "Systematic problems" within their program…..

These type of allegations coming out of Ann Arbor are starting to seem like a pattern of problems with that football program… just sayin

Coach cheated and ruined his marriage. Not the football program's fault.

Unconfirmed but SAed a male staff member too.

If anything was done at the HC office or Football facility- it is a program problem

The reports coming out claim that the coach was arrested.

Can one get arrested, charged and go to jail if an adult male gets a 17 year old female pregnant?

Maybe if they are both state employees and she is his subordinate. I'm not sure what the laws are in Michigan.

According to news reports, Moore is already under a show-cause order from his participation in the sign stealing fiasco. I'm not sure, given that (assuming the appeal didn't go in UM's/Moore's favor), how he was able to coach, but perhaps the procedures required going through, they all went through and he served his game suspension this year and coached. He reportedly has one more game to serve next year.

Thus, it is very possible that if Moore is found responsible for a Level I or II violation, he may suffer a fairly harsh punishment. Not sure if that would attach to UM or not, but my guess is that it wouldn't and that consideration likely played a part in his dismissal today. I'm unable to find a full list of violations, but whatever Moore is alleged to have done, unless it offered some competitive advantage for UM, the NCAA will probably leave them alone. At the very least, that will be the excuse.

I congratulate the OP in his knowledge that the DP is part of the "repeat violators" rule and not based on any supposed severity of any violation. I've screamed that on here until I'm blue in the face and it seems to keep getting ignored when the subjects of Baylor of Penn State come up.

Adult male has sex with minor? Pretty sure that is illegal.

It is if it's a subordinate to whom he gave a raise and the AD knew and did nothing.

Same coach was on the Harbaugh staff and has been investigated for the sign stealing operation.

In a different decade and with a different program, media folks would be talking about the dreaded "lack of institutional control."

My question was who approved the raise?
Football coach can suggest a raise but are those not university employees?
Is that not state funded money paying the salary?
Someone had to review and approve the raise.
And you're telling me nobody asked questions about a 55% pay increase for an administrative assistant ?

While disgusting, it may not be, If the "age of consent" for sex is 17 or older it's not against the law. Unless there are other issues at play... subordinate employee/student/etc.

I don't know the setup at UM, but head coaches, AD's, etc are usually hired and approved by university president and board. They're not fully autonomous. Big Jimmy Megabooster might've said it was ok, but that doesn't make it ok.

i hate to break it to you but not everything is based on the color of your skin. if you hadn't noticed football skeletons get swept under the rug. female ball
coaches don't get that luxury nor do male coaches in secondary sports.

this is like being surprised a walk in deep snapper doesn't get the same rules as the QB1. that's life not racism.

Agreed, school and board and all that have say, the coaches and staff abide by university code, etc. But that doesn't change the fact their salaries don't come from taxpayer money.

Pardon my ignorance, but if he had an "inappropriate relationship" with an adult staffer, regardless of gender, he might be fired but he wouldn't be arrested.

Being arrested/investigated by the police signals that the person was either underage or is alleging abuse of some kind right? What else could it be?

Could you imagine if the coach have an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate was a death penalty offense for a football program? How many times has that come out (or have you heard rumors)?

Program knew about it and the other stuff yet did nothing until it benefited them.

Baylor, lsu, Penn st and Michigan all deserve the death penalty.

On another thread someone stated there was some manner of assault or threat of bodily harm to the person.

Regarding the Death Penalty thing, if Penn State and Baylor didn't get it for what went on in those programs, it won't happen to Michigan either.

I believe Moore found a way to remove his buyout (not a crazy $ figure but enough to get by for multiple years) and make himself completely non-hirable in a highly specialized profession. Talk about absolutely wrecking your life.

I saw one thread where a guy was trying to push a rumor that there was also a sexual relationship with a male staffer. There's a lot of "if it's on Twitter, it's gospel" on this topic.

EDIT - Moore was taken into custody last night, but it wasn't reported why. Apparently it is related to an assault investigation.

If PSU didn't get the death penalty for whatever was happening there back in the day, doubt UM will.

Easy there, seabiscuit. Age of consent is below 18 in 38 of the 50 states.

I would think, though, that threatening the life or wellbeing of a woman gets you arrested no matter how old she is.....assuming that's what happened.
