Jerrod Johnson is a great Aggie. I hope he is not getting dumbed down while being on the Texans.
Spoken like a true cowgirls fan. Texans have a better record and are on a winning streak, but you wouldn't know that since you're no different than a sip fan who thinks you're winning the Super Bowl every year.

Connor McQueen is an interesting option. He was the OC at UIW and their offensive production was awesome. From their webpage "the UIW offense finished No. 2 in the FCS in total offense and passing offense. UIW led the Southland Conference in total offense, scoring offense, passing yards per game, yards per carry, total first downs, third down conversion, and total touchdowns" He worked under Chip Kelly and Lincoln Riley.

Another guy I am seeing some rumor about is Brain Daboll.

For those that don't know, he was just fired from the Giants. However before his stint there he was the Bills OC from 2018-2022(Hired to Giants in January of 2022. He is credited with Josh Allen's development. During his time with the Bills, they averaged 24 PPG. For the first two years however, they averaged about 16 and 17 PPG. In large part due to Josh Allen needing to develop.

Been dropping his name for days.
Won a Natty as the OC for Saban, and Saban himself was propping him up for the Penn St gig.

If Saban's a fan, I'm a fan

Applying myself.

Resume:
-Will not call trick plays on the goal line
-Will not call a deep shot on 3rd and 2 after consecutive 4 yard gains on 1st and 2nd downs

**just a joke, actually liked Klein a lot. 2-3 terrible decisions I've ever seen him make. I'm sure if they had worked we'd call him a genius on those 2-3 though.

No such thing as a perfect oc

They all make questionable play calls at times

In Elko's interview today he said he and klein aligned with their offensive philosophies so I expect the new oc to be someone who also aligns with what Elko wants to do on offense

Imagine an AI trying to run a mike leach air raid with a QB that throws the deep ball like Marcel

This would be an awesome hire.

Saban will stick up for all his past coaches regardless if they are good or bad.

What everyone is missing is exactly what type of offense fits what Elko wants (he said it multiple times today that the OC has to fit what he wants done). Some of the names don't fit as we definitely do not run pro style. We need an OC and coach who fits offense to personnel we have (esp to the QB…each and every yr as they hange w different strengths and weaknesses).

A lot of what Daboll does is right down the fairway of what we wanna be. The QB at Bama was Jalen Hurts.
He's run heavy, to set up pass game off the run, and tries to simplify for the QB

And the really good OCs aren't 1-dimensional in their style/schemes either.

I know this probably isn't popular but give me Petrino and stay out of his way.

He's a worse version of Sumlin on offense. Great offensive mind. Worst nightmare for his own DC.

His teams will be up tempo and score 45 points a game. Yet there is a reason they don't win. He hangs his defense out to dry playing way too many minutes a game and they give up even more points than they score.

He's the perfect example of what a defensive minded coach like Elko knows not to hire.

We're looking for someone similar to what we had this year. A balanced (run and pass) offense capable of going up tempo and be explosive when needed, but otherwise is happy slightly winning time of possession and scoring 38 points a game to complement the defense and win 10+ games.

You are right as rain about Sumlin.
A&M wasted 6 years with Sumlin as HC.
More talk and swag than walk and wins.
Sumlin could not develop the players he recruited either in character or ability.

We need to hire Jake Spavital back as OC

So, Zoo can demand he be fired for bad play selection
also prove, Klein was an average OC and even Spav can do it

Klein could eat the playbook and **** out a game plan that's better than anything spav could come up with.

Does Elko actually choose his assistants? The former $75,000,000 noodle brain didn't, the AD did all the picking and hiring.
